Department Overview

This position supports the Data Insights and Analytics (DIA) team within the Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) group under Consumer Lending (CL) LoB. The DIA team provides reporting and analytic support to drive business insights and enable management oversight for operational, internal functions for the WFHL group. The group supports sales, fulfillment, underwriting, operations, quality, compliance, servicing and support functions for the Wells Fargo Home Lending Business.


About the Role:
Selected candidate will work as Manager of Data Insights and Analytics team and oversee a team of 7 analysts initially, and is expected to grow in future. The incumbent is expected to be a technical expert in data analytics, insights and reporting with demonstrated proficiency to be accountable for team projects, provide technical and thought leadership to the team, and play a pivotal role between India and US team. Candidate is expected to have good command over various tools and technologies such as SAS, SQL, Excel-VBA, BI tools, and MS PowerPoint. Sound knowledge of statistics, banking & consumer lending with specific understanding of home lending product and its lifecycle is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work as technical manager to oversee the team and ensure smooth collaboration amongst them

  • Build and grow the team: Hire top technical talent and focus on their continued learning and upskilling as needed. As the team remit expands, bring the relevant talent into the team.

  • Guide team of individual contributors by reviewing their deliverables.

  • Conduct periodic interactions with all partners to collect feedback about India team and share ground details with them to have better understanding about India team.

  • Set up appropriate SLAs and validation procedures to ensure accuracy of the work being delivered.

  • Ensure teams understand how operational process map into data models

  • Establish culture of creating solutions using the customer lens by analyzing patterns and identifying root causes for variations/anomalies proactively

  • Review solutions from all critical aspects and enable teams to deliver comprehensive value-added solutions and business recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 13+ years of relevant work experience in Analytics projects with knowledge of business analysis, modeling and reporting.

  • 5+ years of experience of leading team in global delivery model with 10+ members involved in Data Analysis, modeling and reporting.

  • Engineering Graduate/ Post-graduate from a reputed institution.

  • Hands on experience of working with SAS/Tableau/VBA/Teradata SQL.

  • SAS: Experience to perform statistical data analysis, build hypothesis, draw conclusions and communicate clear, actionable recommendation to business leaders & partners

  • BI: experience with creating visualizations. Dashboard development experience involving multiple views that all respond to navigation/filter/etc. Ability to create cube behind report that can be reused for self-service by other analysts working on the same domain (and/or, to reuse cube created by others where expedient). Prefer Tableau (these skills are transferable across tools as well).

  • SQL: access, combine, calculate. Create temp tables. Structure data for common BI needs such as drilling or side-by-side comparison, with BI tool recalculating measures as needed.

  • Consultative skills: have the ability to rationalize business need and solution design from people not knowing how to ask precisely for what they need.

  • Simple work documentation skills. Requirements, query documentation, testing.

  • Detail oriented. Accuracy is key.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and inter-personal skills.

  • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Domain understanding of WFHL products and process lifecycle (Originations, Servicing, Default Operations, Risk) will be an added advantage

  • Prior experience working on complex projects sourcing data from multiple sources

  • Prior experience in building new scripts/maintaining existing scripts in Python

  • Strong understanding of business drivers and industry trends of lending products & home lending in specific.

  • Proven ability to be successfully deliver robust solutions in a fast paced environment

  • Proven ability to ensure analytic rigor for all work products

  • Expected to learn the business aspects quickly, multitask and prioritize between projects.

  • Dedicated, enthusiastic, driven and performance-oriented; possesses a strong work ethic and good team player.
