About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Architect to join our Technology organization and be part of our Chief Technology Office (CTO) team. Learn more about the career areas and business divisions at wellsfargojobs.com.

You will be responsible for leading the creation of architectures for the on-premises compute enablement at enterprise scale. You will make an impact by providing thought leadership in the compute platform space, ensuring alignment of component architectures developed by other Lead and Senior Architects to the enterprise level compute platform architecture. Collaboration with peer architects in other technology domains, as well as Lead and Principal Engineers leading the delivery of technology platforms, will be critical to your success.

You will bring your passion about the introduction of, and advocacy for, new technology which brings tangible benefits to the enterprise. Keeping current with trends in the compute platform and infrastructure technology spaces to lead the enterprise in the most effective strategic direction will be imperative, and a day-to-day activity in your role.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

  • Act as a subject matter expert to the organization for compute infrastructure architecture

  • Develop and maintain architecture solutions such as reference architecture, white paper, product strategy, product to services roadmap

  • Advocate and define architectural vision for Wells Fargo's compute environment

  • Design, configure and implement fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining compute services on-premises using infrastructure as a code solution integrated with common control planes


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Systems Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture experience architecting hybrid cloud, data center design and modernizing technology infrastructure landscape

  • 3+ years of experience with Virtualization, Public/Private Cloud, Operating System, Software Defined Storage, Containerization, and Infrastructure as code

  • 2+ years of experience in Data Center migration and related tooling

  • 3+ years of experience researching new technologies, performing proof-of-concepts, and recommending solutions


Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands on knowledge to support automated profiles such as VMware, PowerFlex, Nutanix

  • 3+ years of experience with VMware products including ESXi, NSX-T, vRA, vROPS, vCenter, Redhat/Windows Server, Satellite, SCCM, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, OpenShift Container Platform

  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code via CI/CD and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Packer

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience working in an Agile, product-oriented structure

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Strong comprehension within the compute, network, and storage technology domains
