About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of Engineering experience in Network Engineering or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 15+ years of network engineering experience
  • 5 + years of technical design experience
  • 5+ years of network design
  • 5+ years of experience working in a large enterprise network organization
  • Must be comfortable writing for design and architecture.
  • Experience with branch and data center Networks and deployments
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools and applications.
  • Experience with public cloud design, and network connectivity
  • Experience with third party connectivity models and associated network segmentation
  • Exposure to Wireless technologies, such as WLAN, customer Wi-Fi and guest Wi-Fi access
  • Experienced/familiarity with modern networking constructs. Ex: leaf-spine networks, BGP, VLANs, VXLAN, and BGP EVPN
  • Experience/familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Chef, Ansible, Terraform, and Puppet.
  • Experience/familiarity with Python, Python packages and object-oriented programming
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and using Agile methods and rituals
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Extensive technical writing skills and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of end to end network architecture and protocols
  • Ability to research, design, implement, and test industry best practices
  • Ability to define business requirements and align to technology direction
  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into straightforward requests for information and collaboration, working with a wide range of people
  • Knowledge and understanding of network device security and hardening best practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of network engineering design at the enterprise level.
  • Strong understanding of network perimeter design and DC Fabric concepts
  • Ability to train and lead others.
  • Ability to present technical concepts to senior leaders.
  • Ability to align technology direction to business terminology.
