WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS:

The Sophomore Discovery Fellowship Program is designed to provide students who have completed their sophomore year of college with an in-depth understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of full-time employees across a variety of roles within Wells Fargo. Participants receive comprehensive professional and educational experience through networking, job shadowing, and other engagement opportunities paired with project-based work. In addition, the experience offers organized activities that afford participants engagement in intentional programming, exposure to various business and key financial functions, exploration, and networking events with other participants across business lines.

This is a paid, 6-week experience with corporate housing provided for the program's duration.

Fellows will participate in a series of structured program engagements, which will include:

  • Opportunity to job shadow and experience on-the-job training

  • Robust week-one of induction to include technical and soft skills training

  • Rotational program structure to provide exposure to multiple teams within one of these lines of businesses: Commercial Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, Internal Audit, Public Affairs, Chief Operating Office, or Technology

  • Networking with current members of the early talent programs and learning about the day-to-day roles and responsibilities

  • Executive Speaker Series, lunch and learns, and cross business networking events

  • Interaction with summer cohort on projects and presentations

  • Formal evaluations at the end of each rotation

ABOUT OUR BUSINESSES:

Commercial Banking provides market-leading solutions, industry expertise, and insights to help enable our clients' growth and success, enhancing the communities we serve. In addition to traditional lending products, Commercial Banking is a market leader in asset-based lending, equipment finance and leasing, global receivables and trade finance, floor plan finance, renewable energy, and environmental finance, and provides strategic capital investments.

Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe. The sophomore experience will focus on the following:

  • Banking is responsible for the origination and execution of all corporate and investment banking products and services, including credit, treasury management, deposits, capital raising, advisory services, and rates/foreign exchange activities. Banking is organized by industry or product and is dedicated to understanding the unique competitive and operating environments of our clients across a broad universe of middle market, large corporate, financial sponsor and institutional clients, and multiple groups.

  • Markets (“Sales & Trading”) delivers a comprehensive set of capital market products and solutions to the broader Wells Fargo customer base, ranging from distribution of public debt and equity products to hedging interest rates, commodity and equity risks and includes multiple groups.

  • Commercial Real Estate delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. Commercial Real Estate provides financing services to experienced real estate owners, developers, investors, and real estate investment trusts (REITs), through all stages of their growth and development and includes multiple groups.

Internal Audit provides a unique opportunity to learn about one of the world’s largest bank’s only internal independent review function. Internal Audit is organized into teams aligned to each of Wells Fargo’s business functions such as consumer lending, technology, and wealth and investment management, and internal department operational functions such as management and board reporting, data analytics and visualization, and innovation tools. This is a highly interactive six-week, hands-on experience giving participants a behind-the-scenes view of Internal Audit’s risk and control evaluations by shadowing auditors and their teams in their daily work and by conducting a simulated audit.

Public Affairs builds trust, brand reputation, and positive business results for Wells Fargo. We enhance the company's social impact and sustainability, execute strategic communications and brand management, and advocate for Wells Fargo's business priorities. Our employees are the key to our success. Public Affairs teams include:

  • Communications & Marketing delivers strategic counsel and engaging content to build brand favorability while protecting and enhancing Wells Fargo’s reputation and culture.

  • Philanthropy & Community Impact leads the development of strategic initiatives and corporate commitments to drive positive, innovative social impact, and enhance Wells Fargo’s reputation in local communities.

  • Business Execution Office focuses on improving efficiency and operating results across Public Affairs, management of front-line risk and enterprise programs, leading the completion of our high-priority plans and deliverables, initiative prioritization and support, finance/expense, leadership of Meetings & Events, planning and administration across Public Affairs, business resiliency and a variety of other business functions.

Chief Operating Office (COO) strengthens Wells Fargo's risk and control infrastructure, delivers a more consistent approach to line of business operations, and delivers effective and efficient enterprise services to our employees and customers. The top priority of the COO is to help strengthen the company’s risk and control infrastructure. The COO strengthens the company's culture around execution discipline, operational excellence, and customer centricity, and is organized into three fundamental areas:

  • Risk and Control Foundations (RCSA) sits within the COO and is the foundation of the core work we are doing to establish an effective controls environment across Wells Fargo. Our critical risk and control work also includes the Control Executive team, Regulatory and Policy Affairs, Enterprise Complaints and Remediations, Risk Transformation & Execution, and Sales Practices and Conduct Management — all which focus on strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure in numerous ways.

  • Global Operations enables a more consistent, effective, and efficient delivery of products and services to customers across contact centers, payments, and other processes. Working closely with the businesses they support, Global Operations drives efficiency and risk mitigation through process simplification, functional consolidation, automation, and effective controls. The main groups that make up Global Operations are Consumer Lending Operations, Consumer, Small & Business Banking Operations, Wholesale Operations, Shared Services Operations, and Fraud and Claims Management.

  • Enterprise Services delivers important services for our global employees and customers and include the Corporate Properties Group, Corporate Security, Enterprise Business Resiliency, Strategic Programs and Enterprise Change Management, and Supply Chain Management.

Technology sets IT strategy for the enterprise by enhancing the design, development, and operations of our systems, optimizing the Wells Fargo infrastructure, providing information security, and enabling Wells Fargo global customers to have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week banking access through in-branch, online, ATMs, and other channels. Our mission is to deliver stable, secure, scalable, and innovative services at speeds that delight and satisfy our customers and unleash the skills potential of our employees.

Program Dates: June 16th, 2025 – July 25th, 2025

Pay Range:

  • Charlotte: $25 Hourly

  • New York: $30 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Fellows must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, and personal motivation. It is preferred that your background includes:

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Relevant internship experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation in December 2026 or May/June 2027
