About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Executive Director-level Portfolio Manager for Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking Renewables team. The Renewables Portfolio Management is part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables sector within the broader Energy & Power group. The position will report to the Head of Portfolio Management – Energy & Power and be responsible for the direct management of mid- and junior-level resources, as well as helping set the strategic direction of the portfolio in consultation and partnership with senior leadership. This Renewables Senior Lead CIB Portfolio Manager will oversee the execution of credit related functions and portfolio oversight on a portfolio of private and public companies.

Wells Fargo’s growing Renewables business is an integral part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables (“PUR”) group, providing financing, capital markets and advisory services to corporate clients. Our coverage universe includes renewable developers, independent power producers, infrastructure / private equity funds and utilities globally.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and oversee credit aspects of a broad portfolio of sponsor-owned portfolio or public companies across the Energy Transition / Renewables sector
- Detailed credit, financial statement analysis, industry analysis and projection modeling to ensure accurate and timely and accurate monitoring, accurate risk ratings, covenant compliance, watchlist updates, recognition of potential problems loans of leveraged credit portfolio
- Provide high touch portfolio monitoring, trending & analytics and aggregate reporting. Provide and present portfolio updates as needed to senior leadership, risk management and coverage partners.
- Lead coordination and execution of loan booking, closing, legal documentation and compliance requirements
- Partner with Renewables Asset Finance team, Corporate Banking Relationship Management and Industry Bankers to support client coverage needs related to credit products. Lead credit analysis support and execution to grow relationships through products such as rates/fx/operating exposure for cash management. Engage with clients as needed.
- Assist with coordination and preparation for borrower/portfolio reviews and responses for internal and external exams
- Deliver solutions that are long term, large scale, and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking, and coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others
- Oversee the technical due diligence, complex financial modeling, and credit analysis performed by junior team members
- Ensure that all credit and risk monitoring is adequately performed and that internal reporting requirements are adequately and timely completed
- Provide guidance to the team for the preparation of comprehensive credit screens and analyses in line with the bank’s existing credit policies and procedures, highlighting counterparty risks, contractual risks, and structural risks. Finalize recommendations for internal risk ratings
- Provide ongoing market intelligence to the team as to the Renewable sector and its main participants. Occasionally assign projects to junior team members to cultivate and deepen the team’s collective knowledge
- Directly manage, mentor and train junior team members.
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, managers, and develop a relationship with internal partners, including product groups, risk and operations, and Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance to achieve goals
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Experience in CIB Portfolio Management, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in deal execution or portfolio management in renewables project finance, energy transition or tax equity sectors
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong accounting skills and ability to analyze financial statements
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- High level of initiative and accountability
- Strong Excel skills and intermediate Microsoft Office Word, and PowerPoint skills
- Experience in assessing and modifying project finance models
- Knowledge of project finance credit agreements and structures
- Knowledge and understanding of corporate banking credits, cash flow analysis, and underwriting guidelines
- Ability to multitask and work on several assignments, time management and prioritization skills
Job Expectations:
- Registration for FINRA exams including Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 63 and Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date, if they are not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
- Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. In addition, state registration, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process at the time of offer acceptance.
Base Pay:
- $225,000
- May be considered for a discretionary bonus
