About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Vice President Strategic Investment Specialist for our Strategic Capital team.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in identifying new private capital opportunities for both our direct investing/lending business (including our Overland Advantage direct lending business) as well as third party capital advisory engagements
  • In coordination with a senior originator, work with clients and prospects to find additional opportunities for both Strategic Capital and Overland Advantage
  • Evaluate investment/loan opportunities with appropriate lens of risk and reward and overall portfolio construction
  • Work with the Strategic Capital deal team to analyze, craft investment committee materials and present new investment and loan opportunities, as well as work closely with Overland Product Specialists to assess new Overland credit opportunities
  • Develop investor evaluation materials for capital advisory assignments and help manage investor outreach process logistics
  • Develop financial models related to assigned new opportunities
  • Complete due diligence requests, legal entity work, execution/closing processes, and other activities to prepare transactions for closing
  • Manage the evaluation, closing, and ongoing monitoring of investments
  • Participate in the evaluation and ongoing monitoring of investments and loans as part of a deal team
  • Develop internal network contacts across the commercial banking footprint as well as externally across financial intermediaries (boutique debt placement firms, private equity firms, etc.) to help drive opportunities for business development
  • Supervise and mentor the team of less experienced to individual contributors


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Strategic Investment Management, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years work experience in one or a combination of: leveraged finance, capital markets, private capital, private equity, investment banking coverage or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with evaluating and executing transactions related to both the private and traditional institutional markets
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong integrity, work ethic, and a team player. High level of initiative and accountability
  • Ability to work independently or in teams and thrive in a fast paced, loosely-structured, entrepreneurial environment
  • Financial Modeling experience
  • Financial Analysis experience
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite-Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and organization, and ability to solve complex or abstract problems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business or related field


Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel to different client markets as needed (<50% of time)
  • Hybrid work model, 4 days in the office and 1 day remote
  • Will consider other key locations depending on candidate
