About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Architect (Product Architecture) to join the Technology Chief Operating Office (TCOO) group and will support the Customer Impact Management Technology Team. The Technology Chief Operating Office (TCOO) Architecture group executes the Wells Fargo Technology strategy and offers a strategic technology perspective to the lines of business (LOBs) we support, including Enterprise Customer Impact Management (Enterprise Complaints, Customer Remediations, and Loudspeaker) and technology for Regulatory and Policy Affairs platforms.
The Lead Systems Architect will be a forward thinker, passionate technologist, expert in modern technology practices, and have the experience to operate across the enterprise through understanding of available technology and tools. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment and possess excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and reasoning skills.
In this role, you will:
Serve as the Product Architect for platforms supporting Customer Impact Management within the COO lines of business.
Provide strategic direction in the development and maintenance of architectures for Customer Impact Management that are transformative and in compliance with the Enterprise Architecture.
Create product architecture artifacts as required, including current, transition, and target state architecture documentation.
Communicate the target architectures and direction to both management and systems-related teams within Customer Impact Management and direct implementation of the architecture.
Drive the development and alignment of product strategy and roadmap with business objectives, leveraging market trends, customer feedback, and enterprise architecture frameworks to ensure product success and strategic fit.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and oversight of current and transition state architectures, ensuring seamless evolution toward target state architectures.
Conduct rigorous build-versus-buy analyses for new and existing capabilities.
Assess and optimize the alignment of the technology portfolio with business capability needs, identifying opportunities for consolidation and modernization.
Lead application rationalization initiatives to eliminate redundancies and reduce technical debt.
Review technology spend strategies and standards for alignment with architectural direction and cost optimization.
Conduct architecture assurance reviews and assess engineering practices to ensure ongoing alignment with target architectures and strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Systems Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
3+ years of experience with case management or business process management systems (e.g., Pega, Red Hat PAM, IBM BPM, JBPM)
Desired Qualifications:
5+ years leading medium to large-scale architecture programs
Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills, including at senior levels
Deep understanding of architecture best practices and domain-driven microservices
Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and change in complex environments
Proficiency in architecture modeling tools (e.g., Bizzdesign, ArchiMate)
Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML solutions into enterprise architectures
Strong grasp of AI governance, lifecycle management, and ethical deployment
Familiarity with data engineering practices supporting AI (e.g., pipelines, feature engineering)
Ability to assess platform health and readiness through tech portfolio evaluations
