About this role:

The Data Management Operational Risk Executive (Executive Head of Data Management 2nd Line) is crucial for ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of data assets across the organization. The successful candidate will lead a team of data management professionals and collaborate with the Line of Business and Enterprise Functions to drive data-driven decision-making and regulatory compliance. This position involves developing and implementing a comprehensive data management risk strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, compliance, and security.

Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, working closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure data initiatives support business needs. The Executive Head of Data Management 2nd Line Oversight is responsible for overseeing the front line’s implementation of the Data Management Policy and Procedures, including roles, responsibilities, infrastructure, systems, tools, metrics, and educational activities. They will perform independent oversight of data governance and data management risks and controls across the end-to-end data flow. Additionally, they will develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data management initiatives and identify and mitigate risks associated with data management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

The role involves leading and mentoring a global team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The Executive Head will also collaborate with Independent Testing and Validation to determine testing and validation scope, requirements, and related activities. They will review data management risks and incorporate testing and validation results, as appropriate, into independent risk assessments and risk monitoring.

In this role, you will:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive data management strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.

  • Data Governance: Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, compliance, and security.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a global team of data management professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure data initiatives support business needs.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in data management practices.

  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data management initiatives.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with data management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

As a leader, you will lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your employees feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them. You will have accountability for management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing, and developing employees, identifying, and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Operational Risk experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of Management experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field: Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar.

  • Professional certifications in data management or knowledge of big data technologies.

  • Experience in leading data management teams in a global organization.

  • Proven experience in data management or related roles within the financial services industry.

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.

  • Experience with data management tools and technologies.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track record for delivering results.

  • Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner; good listener who engenders creative thinking and teamwork.

  • An ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, and an ability to influence and drive timely decision making.

  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, including business leaders, legal, audit and multiple U.S. and non-U.S. regulators.

  • Strong leadership abilities to build and manage high-performing teams, ensuring proper staffing and expertise.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$207,900.00 - $431,900.00
