About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking the Head of FCO Strategic Initiatives supporting Financial Crimes Operations within the Chief Operating Office. For additional information on lines of business, refer to the external careers site at www.wellsfargojobs.com.

This individual will be responsible for shaping and executing long-term strategies that directly impact the organization’s financial crimes risk posture. This role leads the design, governance, and execution of high-impact programs including Customer Exits, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), and Transactional Risk Identification Governance (TRIG), with a strategic focus on high-risk customer segments such as Money Service Businesses (MSBs).

This position plays a critical role in enterprise strategy planning, organizational direction, and transformation. It requires a visionary leader who can navigate complex organizational dynamics, influence across all levels, and deliver sustainable, enterprise-wide outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and develop multiple business functional areas with focus on implementing and delivering long-term strategies, policies, and process advancements for cross-functional stakeholders, and internal and external partners associated with the area of Business Execution or who are affected by its outcomes
  • Identify Business Execution opportunities and strategies for process improvement and risk control development over the long-term in order to ensure operational excellence and process efficiency
  • Lead Business Execution team for assigned initiatives ensuring solutions are designed, integrated, and controlled to improve effectiveness, limit risk exposure, and create efficiencies as appropriate
  • Interpret and develop a range of policies and procedures for long-range and fundamental retooling of perspective, approach, culture, quality, relationships, operations, and capabilities
  • Collaborate and influence functional management to obtain resources, influence outcomes, address conflict, and ensure alignment with Wells Fargo strategies or policies and business line objectives
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Business Execution
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
  • Design and execute the strategy for the end-to-end Customer Exits Operations, PEP & TRIG processes creating a control environment that mitigates the risks introduced by the current environment, while also overseeing the closure of multiple action plans addressing gaps
  • Reshape the Customer Exits, PEP and TRIG Operating Models including streamlining processes to scale across the enterprise, building deep subject matter expertise in the team on how various businesses handle each and improving the quality and throughput of the team’s work product


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, including Management or leadership experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Financial crimes, including Customer Exits, PEP screening, transaction lifecycle governance, and high-risk customer segments (e.g., MSBs), with advanced knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and emerging trends.
  • Proven success leading enterprise-wide, cross-functional initiatives and large-scale operating model transformations in highly regulated environments.
  • Strong background in operations, technology, risk, controls, and business processes within global financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage regulatory and audit remediation efforts with sustainable outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership experience, including managing large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong risk and control orientation with experience engaging senior regulators and executive leadership.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization and navigate complex matrixed environments.
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to partner with technology teams to implement scalable, automated solutions.


Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work on-site at one of the posted work locations

Pay Range:

North Carolina - Pay Range: $144,400-300,000

Iowa - Pay Range: $144,400-300,000

Minnesota - Pay Range: $144,400-300,000

Actual salary is determined by location, experience, and qualifications of the job.

May be considered for a discretionary bonus, Restricted Share Rights, or other long-term incentive awards

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
