About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an individual to lead our Data Center Critical Systems Engineering function, joining the Data Center Hosting Services leadership team focused on delivering consistently across the portfolio and driving the evolution, operation, and governance/oversight of Wells Fargo’s mission-critical environments.

The Data Center Critical Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for growing and leading an engineering team of 35+ infrastructure engineering professionals focused on the delivery of engineering solutions, applying design quality controls, and providing engineering oversight of major critical systems initiatives. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for establishing and enforcing engineering standards, solving large scale implementation and capacity issues, direct ownership and oversight of data center construction/critical systems buildouts, and building strong relationships with aligned technology teams and real estate partners.


In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
  • Lead an engineering organization focused on critical technology environments, driving research, development, and piloting of new data center technologies to align with consumer needs
  • Lead strategic design and execution to enable Data Center Hosting Services to be the “private cloud provider of choice” for the firm
  • Grow a Data Center Integration Engineering function responsible for qualifying next-generation technology infrastructure solutions, defining implementation guidelines, and optimizing service delivery processes
  • Develop a group of Principal Engineers in strategy, design, and operation of critical systems infrastructure across mechanical, electrical, and structured cabling disciplines
  • Provide holistic Capacity Management of essential health metrics across all critical technology hosting environments, offering insights into current utilization and future demand
  • Enhance Telemetry and Automation by leveraging Data Center Infrastructure Management tools for planning, monitoring, and managing technology hosting environments
  • Collaborate with executives, technology leaders, CIO partners, infrastructure peers, and architecture leaders to achieve Data Center Modernization and Simplification objectives through long-term strategic planning of data center activities impacting design, operation, efficiency, and availability
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums providing industry focus for DC Hosting Services, leveraging contacts with peer companies and industry organizations to develop standards and improve performance
  • Drive Energy Management strategy in support of sustainability goals, focusing on continual service improvement and reducing carbon footprint

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 8+ years of experience directly related to data center or mission critical facility design/operation.


Desired Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Extensive professional experience in a global organization, with a successful track record in managing organizations and influencing people with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Significant knowledge of data center Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure, with engineering discipline
  • Proven track record leading large-scale data center infrastructure engineering and design, including establishing design requirements, defining technical aspects of contracts and identifying risks
  • Managing experience with the design, construction, operation, and/or maintenance of data centers including critical infrastructure commissioning
  • In depth knowledge of data center technologies and associated environmental tooling and monitoring
  • Success in developing and executing emerging data center technologies
  • Sets standards for engineering design and established operational best practices. Driven process improvements across the organization
  • Conceived, initiated, and led projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation, and implementation
  • Proven experience defining and implementing metrics; facilitate a data-driven decision-making environment
  • Worked with architectural & engineering firms on design, construction, and project execution as well as local authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create and deliver senior management messages with ability to think “outside the box” while maintaining focus on practicality

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
