About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
- Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
- Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
- Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls
- Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
- Lead Control Management project or virtual teams
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of operational risk management within the financial services industry.
- Experience in Risk and Controls, preferably in the first or second line of defense in banking or financial institutions.
- Understanding of Consumer, Small, and Business Banking (CSBB) products and services.
- Proven ability to function as a Control Lead Officer, supporting Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) execution and driving change management programs.
- Skilled in proactive issue identification, root cause analysis, and resolution of control deficiencies, while providing insights into emerging risks.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and build strong relationships with key partners across CSBB and enterprise functions.
- Expertise in evaluating regulatory and process changes, assessing impacts, and developing implementation plans to close gaps.
- Comprehensive understanding of operational risk management and/or operations process management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead discussions and influence senior management.
- Ability to consult, build, and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the immediate department.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-risk, complex projects and initiatives successfully.
Job Expectations:
Proven expertise in operational risk frameworks, technology risk assessment, and RCA methodologies, Risk assessment of new business initiatives
- Ability to evaluate changes to regulations, processes, etc. to assess impacts and to develop implementation plan to close gaps
- Comprehensive understanding of operational risk management and Technology Risk Management
- Understanding of US consumer laws, SDLC, Change Management frameworks, IT controls, cybersecurity principles, and digital transformation risks.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact and lead discussions comfortably with senior levels of management
- Knowledge and understanding of financial services: regulations, compliance, policies, process, and procedures
- Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of immediate department
- Ability to manage initiatives involving process improvements
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience
- Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
- Ability to prepare management level presentations
- Ability to lead projects/initiatives with high risk and complexity
experience and exposure to Consumer Banking, with specialization in Consumer Data and Digital areas.
