Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer
In this role, you will:
- Provide companywide oversight and governance of an integrated operational risk program or initiative
- Develop and drive innovative operational risk approaches and solutions companywide through an influence model
- Identify potential business operational risks
- Develop and drive innovative operational risk approaches and solutions companywide through an influence model
- Constructively and independently challenge existing risk management fundamentals or assumptions and develop alternative approaches and solutions
- Evaluate long term implications and consequences of strategic business decisions and recommend appropriate alternatives for risk management
- Lead implementation of complex initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines
- Consult to the business on corrective action plans and effectively managing change
- Influence and negotiate with executive management and business heads as high-level stakeholders both within and outside Wells Fargo
- Lead initiatives and virtual teams across the organization to deliver companywide business risk management transformations
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Lead project or virtual teams and mentor less experienced staff
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- + 10 years of Operational risk experience providing risk oversight · Broad understanding of various operational risk types (e.g., technology risk, information security risk, data risk) · Knowledge and experience of WF's Technology LOB.
- Familiarity with the Wells Fargo RCSA process and Operational Risk Program Policy requirements
- Strategic thinker that excels in business and risk acumen · Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy · Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment with minimal supervision Desired certifications - CRISC, CISA,CISM, CISSP, CCSP
Job Expectations:
- The Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer, within the Technology Operational Risk Business Oversight function, is a key member of the second line of defence. This role provides independent oversight and challenge to technology risk management, ensuring operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- The position advises senior management to ensure risk frameworks for technology operations are robust and effective. Responsibilities include but not limited to : Strategic Oversight: Provide independent challenge to first line technology teams, ensuring risk management aligns with the organisation’s risk appetite. Risk Identification and Assessment: Proactively identify, assess, and report on operational risks in areas such as cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, data, and third-party risk. Policy and Framework Development: Develop and enhance technology risk policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- This role will be part of the Operational Risk Business Oversight team within Technology Operational Risk Business Oversight team. Primary responsibilities of this role will include the oversight of the shared services , Issue Management, User Acceptance Testing Oversight in Technology which conducts governance and adherence monitoring of various enterprise risk programs and policies for Technology as a front-line Enterprise Function.
- This role would be aligned as the dedicated ORBO supporting the RAU which is responsible for the following processes: Technology's adherence to the Risk & Control Self-Assessment policy & program, Issue Management policy & program, Operational Risk Events policy & program, and Self-Assurance policy & program through management of required program artifacts.
- This role would also be instrumental in developing the LOB risk profile report indicative of the ongoing ORBO assessment of the business based on their risk and control environment and emerging risks.
