The Chief Development Experience Office is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the transformation of the Wells Fargo development ecosystem through emerging GenAI capabilities. In this role, you will identify, evaluate, and operationalize industry GenAI tools and integrate them into the enterprise development experience. You will drive the evolution of the Enterprise Framework and related low‑code and agentic tooling that enable modernization, automation, and improved developer productivity across the software development lifecycle. This role provides senior‑level technical leadership, shaping strategy, defining architecture, and delivering enterprise‑ready platform capabilities that support scalable, secure, and future‑focused engineering practices.

In this role, you will:

Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Set the strategy and roadmap for GenAI adoption in SDLC, including governance, security, and metrics.

Lead proof‑of‑concepts and scale successful patterns into production‑ready platform capabilities.

Architect and evolve the Enterprise Framework to enable agentic workflows, automation, and developer self‑service.

Establish integration patterns, guardrails, and standards for GenAI‑enabled development tools and services.

Partner with Architecture, Security, CIO organizations, vendors, and LOB engineering to drive adoption and alignment.

Define and track KPIs/OKRs (e.g., cycle time, developer productivity, quality, ROI) to demonstrate business impact.

Provide senior‑level technical leadership, coaching, and technical product ownership for key platform capabilities.

Lead resolution of complex cross‑functional challenges affecting multiple product areas and thousands of applications.

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

7+ years Full stack design and development experience with Java, C# and TypeScript

5+ years leading architecture or platform engineering initiatives with cross‑organizational scope.

2+ years of demonstrated experience with AI/GenAI technologies, ML‑assisted development, or agentic/automation platforms.

Expertise in modern SDLC practices (DevOps, CI/CD, testing, observability, inner‑source, platform engineering).

Excellent communication skills with a record of executive‑level storytelling and decision facilitation.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with one or more Cloud technologies - OCP, Azure, GCP, AWS

Experience with Low code platform development

Experience building developer platforms or frameworks that serve large, federated engineering organizations.

Hands‑on knowledge of cloud‑native architectures, containerization, and infrastructure as code.

Background in designing metrics frameworks and experimentation loops to measure productivity and quality.

Track record of introducing automation‑first, guardrail‑based engineering practices at enterprise scale.

Prior experience collaborating with vendors on tool evaluation, contracts, integration, and productionization.

Demonstrated ability to mentor principal‑level and senior engineers and build high‑performing teams.
