About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Capital Markets Middle Office Associate to support the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) business within the Wells Fargo Securities Group. This role serves as a team specialist on the Derivatives Clearing Cash and Collateral Management team, supporting Futures, Options, and cleared Swaps. The associate will handle daily cash management, reconciliation, exception research, and ensure accurate settlement‑day funding across repos, derivatives, securities lending, and FX activity.

The position is responsible for investigating and resolving breaks between internal books and street balances while managing collateral requirements across cleared derivatives products, tri‑party agreements, and associated margin obligations. Additional responsibilities include projecting cash balances, processing cash and securities movements, forecasting short‑ and medium‑term liquidity needs, and supporting variation margin, initial margin, and independent amount processes. The role also contributes to platform improvements by identifying issues, documenting enhancements, and driving process efficiencies.

This role partners closely with FCM Client Service, Sales, Treasury, Operations, and external counterparties to maintain strong operational controls and timely execution. Success requires strong analytical abilities, high attention to detail, and the capability to navigate complex middle‑office workflows while supporting a high‑visibility function within Corporate & Investment Banking.


In this role, you will:

  • Identify opportunities to resolve complex confirmation and related cash and payment issues
  • Review tactical business challenges related to complex derivative products
  • Receive direction from manager and exercise independent judgement while developing an understanding of procedures
  • Provide information to managers and the Capital Markets Middle Office


Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics.
  • Futures and OTC products experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GMI
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in preparing cash/collateral forecasts and cash flow analyses.
  • Experience in the preparation and maintaining of financial schedules of an FCM in line with CFTC and CME regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Experience in managing complex cash and collateral functions within an FCM.
  • Experience in presenting and preparing proposals to recommend new processes/services that optimize house and client assets.
  • Knowledge of investment portfolio strategy, banking and financial instruments.
  • General knowledge of GAAP and CFTC/CME reporting requirements for investments and other financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of cash and collateral management software expertise a plus.
  • Advanced analytical, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft spreadsheet and modeling skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to break down problems into meaningful parts and come to a rational and well thought out conclusions.


Job Expectations:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, regular work hours between 7AM - 6PM depending on coverage.
  • Work at the posted location below on a hybrid schedule of three (3) days in office and two (2) days from home.
