About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking for a Senior Lead Mid-Corporate Portfolio Manager for the Commercial Banking Specialized Industry - Commodity Finance group in Houston, TX. The client portfolio is primarily comprised of commodity traders and marketers in the Mid-Corp Energy/Ag/Metals space throughout the US. This role is responsible for credit portfolio management to meet the long-term financial objectives and risk tolerance for commercial banking clients.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership, clients, and credit teams to develop and influence all aspects of credit strategy, transactions, and large-scale planning for highly complex Mid-Corporate initiatives, underwriting, and strategic credit activities, including those that are cross-functional and have broad impact
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges across multiple areas, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require innovation, advance analytical and inductive thinking, coordination of highly complex activities and guidance to others, and deep understanding of nuanced legal, credit, and industry dynamics, including intangibles or unprecedented factors
  • Demonstrate expertise in all levels of underwriting and act as primary lead for highly complex credit transactions, including acquisition finance, large bridge underwrites, and other complex transactions; lead transactions engaging directly with senior management, clients, and risk management
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to senior leadership on implementing decisions in complex, multi-faceted, and significant business solutions that are large-scale and cross-functional
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Mid-Corporate Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Complex credit underwriting experience including advanced commercial Mid-Corp credit or specialty group relationship portfolio credit
  • Experience in leading syndicated transactions
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to spread, analyze perform in depth commercial financial statement analysis
  • Demonstrated experience showing attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to independently problem solve
  • Ability to understand, review and negotiate loan documentation
  • Experience / ability working in a high paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with experience effectively working and communicating with internal partners both in person and remotely
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including using Excel for financial analysis and projection modeling
  • BS/BA degree or higher (preferably major in Finance/Accounting)

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule
