About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Control Management Officer


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to more experienced leaders in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations
  • Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams
  • Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • This Senior Lead Control Officer role is a critical position within the Technology Risk and Control Management function support the Chief Data Office (CDO) organization. This role is part of the team that counsels CDO leadership on risk and control issues, issue management and remediation and regulatory interactions. This role must lead and foster a collaborative environment that ensures timely communication and strong cooperation between this front-line unit and independent risk management under Corporate Risk, and a strong connection with Wells Fargo Audit Services.
  • The successful candidate will also work closely with CDO management and with other Control Organizations in the execution of data management risk and data management strategies. Accordingly, critical success factors will include the ability to develop partnerships with many functional areas, provide insight into the regulatory climate and identify data trends which may present opportunities or reflect gaps in the Company’s data management strategic execution/direction.
  • Act as advisor to CDO leadership in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise across Control leadership and with CDO leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations.
  • Participate in Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and provide guidance to Risk Assessment Unit Owners and business leaders through detailed risk and control evaluations.
  • Leads the development of risk reporting, analytics and visualization with articulated message for related stakeholders. Create standard set of repetitive risk reports for risk monitoring and triggered based alert handling.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders. Work with senior executives to develop program strategy, roadmap and annual priorities. Drive the execution of critical program/project management

Job Expectations:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Technology and Security risk frameworks – ISO 27001, COSO, COBIT, Develops & Secure Software Development Frameworks, NIST CSF, AI RMF etc
  • One or more industry certifications like CISA/ CISM/ CRISC/ CISSP/ CCSP or equivalent.
  • Ability to work with Senior Executives on Information Security Strategy, Architecture and Risk Management.
  • Risk Identification Support: Perform process walk throughs to identify and raise self-identified issues and track them to successful closure.
  • Issue Management Support: Guidance regarding root cause analysis (Incidents, Issues, ORE, DLP), assist in determining sustainable remedial action plans/controls and heighten Issue Management discipline in the frontline.
  • Transition Control Related Reviews: Perform reviews on transitions per Transition Framework, Controls opinion/acknowledgement, Second-line engagements etc.
  • Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA): Provide Control support for successful execution of RCSA program.
  • Governance & Reporting Routines: Establish Controls governance/reporting routines to provide Risk & Controls landscape view and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Advisory role: Provide guidance to the technology leaders to ensure adherence to the risk procedures and other compliance policies, document adequate approvals in case of exceptions.
  • B Sc, B Com, BBM, MBA, M Com with Business, Finance, Banking, Accounting or Economics as preferred major subject.
