About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Risk Analytics Consultant.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives related to business analysis and modeling, including those that are cross functional, with broad impact, and act as key participant in data aggregation, monitoring, and reporting of stress testing and portfolio analysis for Risk Analytics
- Review and analyze complex programing models to extract data and manipulate databases to provide statistical and financial modeling specific to businesses supported
- Manage the roll out of pilot programs developed as a result of programmed models for supported businesses and product line
- Make decisions in complex product strategies, data modeling, and risk exposure, requiring solid understanding of business unit projects and regulatory responses, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead Analytic and Reporting to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with peers, less experienced to more experienced managers, to resolve production, project, and regulatory issues, and achieve risk analysts, and common modeling goals
- Lead projects, teams, and mentor
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in statistics/finance /engineering/economics/other quantitative disciplines
- Knowledge and understanding of (consumer and small business loan) credit card lending practices, policies, procedures, and key drivers impacting credit offerings, including credit risks and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical skills with ability to turn findings into executable plans to meet business objectives
- Ability to contribute to strategic decisions and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Develop consensus and gain buy-in for strategic priorities
- Proficiency in Advanced SAS, SAS macros, Python and SQL; Tableau or BI/automation tools
- Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
- Strong ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other businesses and functional areas
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, economics, econometrics or computer sciences
- Experience in credit and risk analytic roles
- Hands on Experience in at least one area in credit risk analytics - credit strategy / modeling techniques / Forecasting techniques / data architecture & management
- Detailed understanding of risk domain; Strong Risk analytics skills and understanding of P&L and risk drivers.
- Expertise in few programming and statistical packages - SAS, SQL, Excel, VBA, Macros, R, Python, E-miner, Tableau, SAS VA, Power BI.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical tools such as Segmentation Tools, Decision Trees, Clustering, Regression, and other statistical modeling and/or Machine Learning techniques
- Ability to lead project teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding and willingness to work hands on, using exploratory techniques which can sometimes involve advanced statistics.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction/coordination/project and skill prioritization with heads of functions.
- Ability to identify and evaluate trends, isolate root cause, and provide swift/thorough resolution
Job Expectations:
- The incumbent would functionally contribute as an SME to the Auto Lending Credit Risk team and execute relatively large and complex projects with moderate to high risk for the line of business.
- Lead critical initiatives and core processes, partnering closely with line‑of‑business leadership to influence credit culture, risk appetite, and business performance, with guidance from senior leadership; provide advisory support and counsel to leaders.
- Direct and coordinate activities focused on risk and performance assessment through advanced business analysis and modeling; establish robust policies, processes, and tools for effective risk identification and management, leveraging predictive analytics to build future‑ready solutions.
- Lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives within the Data Risk team, with broad organizational impact, and act as a key contributor to data aggregation, monitoring, and reporting for Auto Risk Analytics.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets to identify trends, key risk drivers, and emerging risk indicators.
- Own and implement complex data changes driven by multiple stakeholder teams, ensuring comprehensive validation, control checks, and governance compliance prior to production deployment.
- Drive high‑impact, complex data initiatives from India with minimal dependency on onshore/state‑side teams.
- Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries on Oracle platforms to ensure data accuracy, performance, and scalability.
- Ensure strong data quality controls, reconciliation, and consistency across multiple data sources.
- Develop, enhance, and review SAS and Python programs for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting.
- Collaborate and consult across a broad range of stakeholders—from junior analysts to senior managers—to resolve production issues, project challenges, and regulatory requirements.
- The Consumer Credit team is responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategic initiatives and processes to drive the company credit culture, appetite, and business performance. The team is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Risk Consultant to be part of the Auto Lending Credit Risk team.
- The candidate would be part of the Auto Lending Strategy Analytics team and would provide analytical support across a wide array of processes or life cycle including but not limited to originations, collections, payments, deferrals, delinquency and related operational processes.
- Primary role is to apply strong business knowledge and advanced analytical skills to solve business questions, think out-of-the-box and develop innovative yet practical risk management solutions. - Corporate Risk enables all Wells Fargo businesses to identify and manage risk. The team focusses on several key risk areas including credit risk, operational risk, compliance risk, market risk and reputation risk. Consumer Credit Risk team within Corporate Risk group is accountable for providing oversight on the management of credit risk exposures and the quality of credit risk management practices for all consumer lending portfolios – Credit Cards, Mortgages, Auto Loans, Personal Loans. This oversight extends to all phases of a loan’s life cycle, including origination, underwriting, risk analysis, approval, documentation, boarding, monitoring, loss recognition, modification, and collection activities.
- The Lead Risk Analytics Consultant will be responsible for leading advanced risk analytics initiatives, designing and delivering data-driven solutions, and supporting audit and control frameworks. The role requires strong technical expertise in SAS, Python, Oracle, SQL, and Power BI, with a preference for candidates who have worked in the Auto Risk domain. The individual will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, audit teams, and technical delivery teams, ensuring robust risk management, regulatory compliance, and high-quality analytics outputs.
