In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop team of individual contributor roles with low to moderate complexity and risk in Network Engineering area
- Oversee the support of company's computer system, including LANs, WANs, internet, network segments and other data communication systems
- Engage stakeholders and internal partners associated with the Network Engineering functional area
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair networked communication system for any kind of issues reported by end-users, and the administration of the systems
- Ensure issues are resolved and no hindrances to accessing organizational resources for users
- Make decisions and resolve issues regarding objectives and operations of network engineering functional area and team to meet business objectives
- Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with low to moderate complexity within scope of responsibility
- Utilize networking management software and testing tools to fine tune systems and optimize system performance, monitor and implement security measures and streamline network functions
- Collaborate with and consult with peers, colleagues and multiple level managers
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Network Engineering
- Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 2+ years of Leadership experience

Role Summary
The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the frontline network operations team to ensure continuous availability, reliability, and performance of the enterprise network. This role oversees day‑to‑day network monitoring, incident response, service request delivery, and adherence to operational standards.
The manager will guide L1 engineers, ensure proper escalation management, drive process improvements, maintain documentation discipline, and partner with L2/L3 engineering teams to uphold strong operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and manage a team of L1/L1.5 Network Engineers across shifts.
- Oversee workloads, shift schedules, and resource allocation to ensure 24×7 coverage.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and skill development plans for the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and track individual/team KPIs.
Operational Management
- Ensure timely response to network alerts, incidents, and service requests.
- Maintain strong oversight on incident queues and drive SLAs/SLO adherence.
- Validate that troubleshooting steps, runbooks, and SOPs are followed consistently.
- Ensure high-quality incident documentation, including timelines and resolution details.
- Manage effective handover between shifts using detailed shift reports.
Incident & Escalation Handling
- Oversee triage of network incidents involving LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, SD‑WAN, and firewall connectivity.
- Ensure proper routing to L2/L3 engineering teams when needed.
- Drive faster MTTA and MTTR through real-time monitoring and proactive interventions.
- Participate in major incident bridges as L1 operations lead.
- Ensure timely communication of outages or degradation to stakeholders.
Monitoring & Service Health
- Manage day‑to‑day network monitoring through NMS tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, PRTG, Zabbix, etc.).
- Ensure network device health checks are completed on schedule.
- Review daily/weekly operational reports and highlight risk areas or trends.
- Drive proactive detection and remediation of potential issues before impact.
Process & Quality Improvements
- Maintain and continuously improve operational SOPs, KB articles, and runbooks.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes: Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request workflows.
- Identify recurring issues and collaborate with engineering teams for problem management.
- Implement automation and simplification opportunities to reduce operational toil.
- Drive audit readiness and adherence to security and compliance standards.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with L2/L3 network engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities, validation testing, and change communications.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Support leadership in operational reviews, RCA reviews, and governance meetings.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS.
- Working knowledge of network devices (Cisco/Arista/Juniper) and wireless technologies.
- Understanding of firewalls and security concepts (Palo Alto, ASA, FortiGate preferred).
- Familiarity with SD‑WAN technologies and VPN troubleshooting.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and log analysis.
Leadership & Operational Skills
- Experience managing or mentoring technical operations teams.
- Strong command of ITIL-based workflows and incident/service operations.
- Excellent analytical, escalation management, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills—able to interact with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10 years’ experience in network operations, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Certifications preferred:
- CCNA (required)
- CCNP (preferred)
- ITIL Foundation (preferred)
