About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to lead Commercial Data technology. This leader will be accountable for defining and executing the data technology strategy that supports all Commercial Banking products globally.

In this role, the Director will own the end-to-end data ecosystem. Including digitization of non-electronic sources, data ingestion, integration, governance, quality, analytics, and regulatory reporting. They will drive modernization, resiliency, and scalability across all data platforms to ensure they meet evolving business, operational, and regulatory needs.

This position partners closely with Product, Architecture, Risk, Finance, and Operations to ensure that Commercial Lending data capabilities enable business growth, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Director will lead global teams and vendor partners and will be accountable for delivering secure, compliant, high quality data solutions aligned with the firm’s enterprise data strategy — including adherence to Approved Data Source (ADS) requirements, where applicable.


In this role, you will:

  • Own the technology vision and multiyear roadmap for Commercial Lending data platforms, aligned with enterprise data and cloud strategy

  • Define and implement the data strategy (e.g. canonical models), partner with Business, Product and Operations on the business strategy, and lead the technology data platforms supporting the business

  • Provide senior level leadership for global onshore and offshore teams, fostering strong engineering, architecture, and delivery practices

  • Drive modernization initiatives (e.g., cloud migration, platform consolidation, tooling standardization)

  • Ensure scalable, resilient, and well governed data platforms supporting high-volume, mission critical workloads

  • Ensure data solutions meet regulatory requirements (e.g., credit risk, loan reporting, regulatory submissions) with strong controls, lineage, and auditability

  • Partner with Product, Architecture, and Business Executives to prioritize investments and align on outcomes

  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Finance to improve data quality, transparency, and certification processes

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior executives and nontechnical stakeholders

  • Champion enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads

  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities

  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders

  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans

  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices

  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers

  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing

  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives

  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation

  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers

  • Lead team to achieve objectives

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong background in enterprise data platforms, data engineering, analytics, and reporting

  • Proven track record delivering technology solutions in highly regulated environments.

  • Strong financial acumen, including portfolio management and budget accountability.

  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience supporting Commercial Lending, Wholesale Lending, or Capital Markets data domains

  • Handson experience with cloud data platforms, largescale data warehouses, and data modernization programs

  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting, risk data aggregation, and data certification processes

  • Experience driving enterprise-wide data governance and quality initiatives

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • This position is eligible for Visa sponsorship

  • Must be able to work on-site at least 3 days per week.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
