The Data Management Senior Manager provides strategic and people leadership for enterprise data management initiatives, with accountability for data quality, integrity, governance, and risk/control effectiveness. This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping objectives and long‑term plans for highly complex business and technical needs while directly leading and developing a team of data management professionals.
The Senior Manager leads the identification and resolution of complex, cross‑enterprise data challenges, drives sustainable remediation of data quality and control gaps, and partners across business, technology, and risk functions to deliver scalable, long‑term solutions that improve data trust, compliance, and business outcomes.
In this role, you will provide:
Strategic Advisory & Enterprise Leadership
- Act as a strategic advisor to leadership to develop and influence objectives, plans, specifications, resourcing, and long‑term goals addressing highly complex business and technical data needs.
- Provide vision, direction, and subject‑matter expertise to senior leadership on innovative and significant business solutions enabled by trusted, well‑governed data.
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex, unique enterprise challenges, delivering solutions that are long‑term, large‑scale, and require advanced analytical, inductive, and creative thinking.
- Serve as a senior escalation point and thought partner for complex data‑related decisions and prioritization across the enterprise.
Data Quality, Integrity, and Control Management
- Design and conduct highly complex analyses to identify and remediate data quality and integrity issues, including root‑cause analysis and prevention of recurring defects.
- Identify process and control gaps, recommend remediation aligned to management strategy, and ensure execution delivers measurable, sustainable outcomes.
- Evaluate data quality metrics, scorecards, and data quality audits to benchmark the current state of data quality and inform prioritization.
- Drive continuous improvement in data quality practices, issue management, and control effectiveness across supported domains.
Governance & Cross‑Functional Engagement
- Strategically engage with professionals and leaders at all levels of the organization to drive alignment, accountability, and execution.
- Partner across the enterprise to coordinate and drive collaboration on solution design and remediation execution, ensuring shared ownership and clear outcomes.
Direct People Leadership & Talent Development
- Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of data management professionals, setting clear expectations, priorities, and performance objectives.
- Build and sustain a high‑performing team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Assess skill needs, allocate work effectively, and develop talent pipelines to support current and future business needs.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and career development guidance; support performance management, succession planning, and engagement.
- Lead through change, ensuring team readiness and resilience as priorities, strategies, and operating models evolve.
Execution, Measurement & Communication
- Translate strategic priorities into clear roadmaps, milestones, and success measures, ensuring disciplined execution.
- Monitor delivery, manage risks and dependencies, and remove obstacles to maintain momentum on critical initiatives.
- Synthesize complex information into clear, concise executive communications, highlighting insights, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended actions.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of Data Management, Business Research, Analytics, or Project Management or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience 6+ years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, analytics
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience operating in a large, complex, or regulated environment with formal data management and governance expectations.
- Proven experience leading complex, cross‑enterprise initiatives involving data quality, issue remediation, and process/control improvement.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and deliver actionable insights.
- Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading teams.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence decisions and drive alignment in a matrixed environment.
- Experience partnering with risk, audit, and control functions and leading remediation of audit findings or systemic data issues.
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality tooling (e.g., metrics, lineage, metadata, issue tracking) and driving enhancements through technology partners.
- Experience designing or evolving enterprise data governance operating models.
