About this role:
The Senior Engineering Manager in Digital Banking Digital Technology leads global database and platform engineering teams supporting mission‑critical, customer‑facing banking platforms. The role provides technical, people, and delivery leadership across modern and legacy data platforms, driving resilience, performance, security, and continuous modernization. The position partners closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and Operations to accelerate digital transformation and embed AI‑enabled engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Platform Leadership
- Lead database and platform engineering teams supporting enterprise‑scale digital banking applications.
- Own architecture, engineering standards, and operational excellence for MongoDB, Cassandra, Oracle, and Java‑based platforms.
- Drive platform modernization, cloud readiness, and high‑availability data solutions.
- Ensure strong performance, scalability, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance.
People & Global Capability Leadership
- Build and develop high‑performing global teams across onshore and offshore locations.
- Set clear expectations and accountability for engineering managers and senior engineers.
- Coach leaders and engineers on technical excellence, execution discipline, and career growth.
- Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering rigor.
Delivery & Execution
- Translate business priorities into clear technical roadmaps in partnership with Product and Architecture.
- Drive predictable, high‑quality delivery using Agile and DevOps practices.
- Balance feature delivery with platform health, tech debt reduction, and operational stability.
- Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and cross‑team coordination.
AI‑Enabled Engineering
- Drive adoption of AI tools, developer copilots, agents, and automation to improve productivity and quality.
- Enable responsible use of AI across design, development, testing, and operations.
- Rapidly evaluate and scale practical, production‑ready AI use cases.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure platforms meet banking regulatory, security, data protection, and audit requirements.
- Embed controls, observability, and automation to reduce operational risk.
- Partner with Risk, Security, and Control teams to address findings and compliance obligations.
Required Qualifications:
6+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
3+ years of management or leadership experience
6+ years in software, platform, or data engineering
5+ years in managing globally distributed teams.
6+ years Strong technical experience with MongoDB, Cassandra
6 years in Oracle or equivalent enterprise RDBMS
5+ years’ experience with Java‑based backend applications
5+ years’ experience leading database and platform teams in large‑scale, regulated environments.
5+ years deep understanding and knowledge of scalability, performance tuning, data consistency, and resilience.
2+ yrs of working knowledge of AI tools and developer productivity platforms
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting digital banking, payments, or customer‑facing platforms.
Exposure to enterprise data governance, security, and regulatory controls.
Experience leading platform modernization or large‑scale migrations.
Experience with AI‑enabled platforms or engineering ecosystems.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD, SRE, observability, and automation.
Ability to quickly learn and lead adoption of new technologies.
Strong advocate for automation, reuse, and engineering efficiency.
Ability to communicate complex technical topics to senior leaders and non‑technical stakeholders.
Proven influence across Product, Architecture, Risk, and Operations.
Outcome‑driven leader with strong accountability and execution focus.
