About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Corporate Banking Associate to support CIB Banking’s Energy & Power Project Finance Portfolio Management team, which manages a growing loan portfolio with significant activity, including refinancings, project finance monitoring, waivers, and amendments. Wells Fargo’s growing Renewables & Asset Finance (“RAF”) business is an integral part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables (“PUR”) group within Energy & Power, providing financing, capital markets and advisory services to corporate clients across. Our coverage universe includes renewable developers, independent power producers, infrastructure and private equity funds, and utilities globally, supporting lending activity across renewables, thermal generation, midstream, and broader energy infrastructure assets. The PUR group is a market-leading franchise in the sector, including top ranked positions in the equity and debt capital markets league tables.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the management of a portfolio of loans originated by the RAF team, including structured financings such as construction, operating, and warehouse facilities, as well as corporate Holdco financings.

  • Complete credit underwriting for a portfolio of accounts, including working with complex models and performing detailed financial & credit analysis.

  • Perform monthly monitoring of operating & construction financings for renewable assets (wind, solar, and energy storage), including reviewing operating reports as well as progress and monthly construction draws.

  • Coordinate with operational teams for all day-to-day activity for the loans, including draws and issuances of Letters of Credit.

  • Review and interpret credit policies and procedures and incorporate requirements into credit analysis, observations and monitoring.

  • Perform all credit monitoring work including annual reviews, status updates and focus reviews for the assigned portfolio, accounting for all risk factors and providing risk rating recommendations with oversight from the Portfolio Manager; provide support for audits.

  • Manage communication between Borrowers and the syndicate of lenders for transactions where we act as Administrative Agent, in collaboration with the Leveraged Finance team.

  • Participate in the training and development of analysts within the team.

  • Represent the bank in maintaining relationships with clients.

  • Review credit agreements and contribute to the analysis and review of project documents including but not limited to Consultant Reports, Power Purchase Agreements, Operations & Maintenance reports.

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, internal partners and stakeholders, including clients.

  • Contribute to regular reporting to credit and senior management on the portfolio, in collaboration with more senior staff – including but not limited to maintenance of transaction databases and comps for the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Corporate Banking Relationship Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Corporate Banking Program Analyst formal training

  • Strong financial modeling, credit, accounting and technical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated excellence in working effectively as an individual and as part of a team

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced and complex environment

  • High level of initiative and accountability

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work with team members who are in different locations

  • Ability to act with integrity, good character and exercise sound judgement

Job Expectations:

  • Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted

  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted

  • Registration for FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted

  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. Successful candidates must also meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents.
