About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Java Fullstack Developer) who brings technical leadership in application modernization, platform integration, and reusable accelerator development, enabling parallel execution across committed delivery streams
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced coding skills in Java Full stack
- Frontend: React/Angular

- Agentic AI: LangGraph, LangChain, A2A (Good to Have)
- Proven experience designing and implementing Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures using vector databases and retrieval frameworks.
- Experience building agentic AI or multi‑agent orchestration systems.
- Familiarity with enterprise AI governance, model risk management, and model lifecycle controls.
Job Expectations:
- Experience designing and optimizing large-scale data pipelines
- Hands‑on experience with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, and test automation
- Solid understanding of unit testing, code coverage, and vulnerability remediation
- Experience with streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams.
- Exposure to reporting and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- 2+ years of experience working with Generative AI systems, including large language models.
