About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer within the Martech team to support enterprise marketing decisioning, workflow automation, and lead the transformation of Martech Stack to an AI native agentic solution. This role is an opportunity to help lead the design, development, and modernization of mission-critical platforms using Pega PRPC, Pega Customer Decision Hub, cloud/on-prem enterprise systems, and modern AI capabilities including Generative AI, Agentic AI, Large Language Models, RAG, and AI orchestration frameworks.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead design, development, testing, deployment, and support of enterprise applications using Pega PRPC / Pega Platform and Pega Customer Decision Hub

  • Design and implement AI and Agentic AI solutions using Generative AI, LLMs, RAG patterns, prompt engineering, semantic search, tool calling, and AI orchestration frameworks

  • Build agent-based workflows using LangGraph, LangChain, or equivalent orchestration patterns to support enterprise automation and intelligent decisioning use cases

  • Develop RAG-based solutions by integrating enterprise knowledge sources, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval logic, grounding patterns, and response generation workflows

  • Integrate Pega, AI agents, LLM services, APIs, data platforms, and enterprise systems using secure REST services, connectors, authentication patterns, and data integration standards

  • Design and develop reusable components, backend services, APIs, automation utilities, and intelligent workflows using Python, Java, or equivalent programming languages

  • Implement AI engineering best practices including prompt management, context handling, model evaluation, output validation, observability, error handling, and human-in-the-loop review patterns

  • Translate business, decisioning, workflow, and AI automation requirements into scalable, secure, maintainable, and compliant engineering solutions

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across Pega applications, AI workflows, RAG pipelines, APIs, data integrations, performance, security, and infrastructure layers

  • Partner with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, risk, compliance, cybersecurity, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure and governed technology solutions

  • Ensure solutions align with Pega guardrails, AI governance expectations, secure coding practices, audit requirements, risk controls, and change-management standards

  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices across all delivery, AI engineering, and enterprise integration workstreams

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years with Pega PRPC / Pega Platform

  • 2+ years with Pega Customer Decision Hub

  • 1+ year experience with AI, Agentic AI, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, LangGraph, LangChain, semantic search, prompt engineering, or AI orchestration frameworks

  • 3+ years coding experience in Python, Java, or equivalent programming languages


Desired Qualifications:

  • Pega Lead System Architect certification

  • GCP, AWS, or Azure beginner/foundational certification

  • Experience building AI-enabled solutions using RAG, LangGraph, LangChain, vector databases, agent workflows, tool calling, or human-in-the-loop patterns

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, version control, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Helm, or equivalent platforms

  • Experience working in financial services, banking, risk, compliance, audit, marketing technology, or regulated enterprise environments

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and partner across technology, business, risk, and compliance teams


Job Expectations:

For CA locations only- 191,000.00 - 305,000.00 USD Annual

For Charlotte - 159,000.00 - 254,000.00 USD Annual
