Here’s the Gist:

The Director – Power Sales, Wolfspeed Materials is primarily responsible for leading the power field sales team with key customer accounts and driving new business opportunities with a goal of rapid business expansion in Power Materials. The focus is to provide customer input and be the commercial voice for product marketing and the operating groups to drive leading responsiveness to a global customer base. This individual will be responsible for managing sales account resources that cover both customers in the North American and International markets.

N-type conductive bare silicon carbide (SiC) wafers and SiC epitaxial technology are the core for advanced device designs for Power applications for Automotive (EV), Power Management, Industrial Controls and Renewable Energy purposes. This position requires a candidate with creativity, vision and detail to understand and match customer requirements with internal capabilities and find new and innovative ways to solve problems. The right candidate will have a significant impact on the growth, performance, and market position of Wolfspeed Materials. The position interacts directly with the power device design and fabrication companies in the industry, product managers, our materials team, and operations personnel to deliver the right products to the right customer at the right time.

The Day-to-Day

  • Actively manage the Power Materials growth segment and key accounts with the purpose of expanding sales activity through new opportunity development
  • Drive and close business opportunities in conjunction with Account Managers and channel partners such as assigned agent/distributor groups
  • Cultivate strong relationships with both existing and new Materials customers
  • Lead proactive sales activities to drive revenue growth in Power Materials
  • Facilitate and monitor account engagement to maintain appropriate responsiveness and sales cycle timeline
  • Prepare and present accurate, multi-faceted customer proposals that consider various scenarios and their impact on long range/ongoing business at key accounts
  • Generate and maintain a key sales metrics dashboard including tracking quotations, key pipeline activities, identify risk/mitigation, and targeted upside(s)
  • Coordinate and manage strategic travel to customer sites on a regular or as needed basis, including logistics, attendees, timeline, and focused agendas
  • Participate in daily sales operations efforts to accurately align internal planning and operations with customer expectations and/or agreements
  • Develop keen market awareness and intel to enable deep understanding of customer, competitor, and market dynamics to facilitate and achieve long term sales strategies
  • This role will include communication, quotation and price coordination, order approval, coordination of strategic business discussions and relationship building
  • Manage key customer and Wolfspeed data portal activity
  • Work with product managers on product specifications for special business opportunities
  • Distribution of sales tools, application notes and/or technical guidelines

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Material Science, or similar technical degree or strong technical aptitude
  • Minimum of 4-7 years’ experience within a technical business field
  • Demonstrated sales, business development, or product management skills in a technical product area
  • Experience supporting customers, direct sales and distribution sales partners
  • Excellent computer skills to effectively track leads, and to prepare sales data and forecasts. Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. with knowledge of Salesforce.com, SAP, CRM and forecasting tools
  • Effective communication skills both externally and internally to develop strong relations with customers, partners, peers and Wolfspeed marketing and operational teams.
  • Strong attention to detail while effectively managing time and multiple priorities
  • Able to develop and translate strategic direction into meaningful tactical action plans
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including internationally as necessary
  • Self-motivated with strong drive to achieve business objectives
  • Strong analytical skills and experience
