Position Summary


The Chief Pilot oversees daily flight operations; provide leadership and supervision to all flight crewmembers on a day-to-day basis. Coordinate with Flight Operations Coordinator on trip construction . Coordinate with Maintenance Manager to ensure aircraft are in optimal condition and meet all requires safety and operational standards in accordance with aircraft requirements, FAA regulations and company policies. Support and assist the Director of Aviation Services with regards to projects, budgeting, and reporting. Act as Flight Operations Lead in accordance with all Flight Department Emergency Response Plan (ERP) activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily flight operations ensuring all flights comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with Flight Operations Coordinator on trip construction.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of flight crewmembers on a day-to-day basis.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure aircraft are in optimal condition and meet all safety standards; maintain and review the aircraft Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
  • Work in unison with Director of Aviation Services to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists and procedures are adequate and that all flight crewmembers are made aware of and operate in compliance with the intent of all directives.
  • Assist the Director of Aviation Services as required with department projects, budgeting forecasts and reporting; fill in as Director in their absence.
  • Screen and participate in the hiring process of new pilots.
  • Develop and implement training program for new pilots, focusing on safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager on issues regarding safety of flight operations.
  • Perform duties as “Flight Operations Lead” for the Aviation Emergency Response Plan. Investigate and report on any flight incidents or accidents, proposing measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Establish and ensure revisions to the Flight Operations Manual and procedures are in line with industry standards.
  • Support the continued development, implementation, and improvement of the department Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Maintain and review Aircraft Letters of Authorization (LOAs).
  • Maintain PIC currency in at least one type of aircraft operated by the company.
  • Keep appraised of current knowledge of industry developments through attendance of seminars, benchmarking and conventions.
  • Liaise with Air Traffic Control and ground operations to facilitate smooth flight operations and minimize delays.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires FAA Air Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with the appropriate ratings and be qualified to serve as Pilot-In-Command for at least one aircraft operated by the company.
  • Requires at least 5 years experience in corporate aviation with a broad knowledge of corporate air travel, 14 CFR Chapter 1 FAA regulations to include FAA Part 91 operations and regulations from other associated entities.
  • Requires demonstrated leadership experience with a strong interpersonal focus. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office Computer Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • College degree preferred.
