Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Employment Type: Contract or Contract-to-Hire

Travel: Occasional (Approximately 1 week per month; varies by project)

Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional plant visits

Position Summary

The Material Coordinator / Scheduler I primarily supports scheduling activities for capital projects across energy generation facilities, including gas, coal, wind, solar, and hydro operations. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating detailed project schedules while ensuring alignment across contractors, materials, and labor resources.

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, project management, and operations teams. This role may also support development of scheduling standards and documentation as project processes evolve.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules supporting capital projects across generation facilities.
  • Coordinate contractor activities, labor planning, and material delivery timelines to support project execution.
  • Track progress and identify scheduling risks, delays, or conflicts.
  • Support coordination across multiple concurrent work streams and vendor teams.

Schedule Development & Reporting

  • Create and maintain Gantt charts and project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Support scheduling efforts using Oracle Primavera P6 (preferred).
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and support Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule development.
  • Provide schedule reporting, updates, and analysis to project teams and leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineers, project managers, construction teams, and operations staff to ensure schedules align with project scope and resource availability.
  • Support coordination across multiple contractors and vendors.
  • Communicate schedule updates clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Standards Development

  • Assist in developing scheduling standards, templates, and process documentation.
  • Support integration of scheduling with cost tracking and project controls when applicable.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to scheduling and project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of project scheduling or project coordination experience preferred (entry-level candidates with strong organizational skills will be considered).
  • Experience using Microsoft Project for schedule development and management.
  • Understanding of project scheduling principles including:
    • Gantt Charts
    • Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
    • Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex scheduling information.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Construction management or project management experience.
  • Experience supporting energy generation, industrial, or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with overhaul or outage scheduling.
  • Experience integrating scheduling with cost tracking and project financial management.
  • Knowledge of **SAP work order scheduling or project systems.

Education Requirements

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.
  • Acceptable: Engineering, Business Management, or related field.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Able to manage 80–100 concurrent work streams involving multiple contractors and vendors.
  • Strong ability to develop project schedules from scope of work with limited guidance.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across technical, operational, and business teams.

Work Environment & Additional Details

  • Hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
  • Occasional plant site visits may involve increased safety and environmental exposure.
  • Travel expenses reimbursed per company policy.
  • Open to considering higher-level candidates (Scheduler II or III) based on experience and qualifications.

Pay Rate Range

27 - 36 USD hourly
