Systems / Business Analyst II
Location: Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid preferred)
Travel: Up to 10% for project-related activities
Employment Type: Contract (Initial 10 months with high likelihood of extension)
Position Overview
The Systems/Business Analyst II will join the Operations Capital Delivery project team supporting multiple large-scale operational technology initiatives. This team manages approximately 25 capital projects across operations including transmission, gas, distribution, and renewable energy systems.
The Business Analyst will play a critical role in requirements gathering, documentation, and coordination across project teams. This role involves working in a large corporate environment and may support multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key initiatives may include projects such as gas transaction system replacements and market platform implementations supporting regional energy markets. The analyst will work closely with project managers, QA testing leads, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure requirements are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with system design and testing efforts.

Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Support multiple enterprise projects simultaneously within the Operations Capital Delivery portfolio.
- Work closely with Project Managers, QA Test Leads, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable documentation.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions to clarify requirements.
- Map requirements to system design capabilities and testing scenarios.
- Assist with ULC governance processes and required project documentation.
- Support QA teams with requirements traceability and validation during testing cycles.
- Utilize tools such as Jira and Excel to manage requirements, track progress, and document project artifacts.
- Interface with external software vendors to understand vendor product capabilities and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to project artifacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- 5–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed corporate environment.
- Strong experience with requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
- Proficiency with Jira and Microsoft Excel for tracking requirements and project artifacts.
- Experience working on Waterfall-based projects or structured delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, coordinate meetings, and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in the energy or utility industry.
- Experience supporting enterprise software implementations.
- Experience working with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software implementations.
- Experience with system modernization or cloud migration projects.
- Familiarity with operational technology systems supporting transmission, gas, distribution, or renewable energy operations.

- Position can be onsite, hybrid, or remote depending on candidate location and experience.
- If local to Denver or Minneapolis, candidates may be expected to work onsite up to 3 days per week.
- Parking is available onsite for employees working in office locations.
