Position Overview
This role provides dedicated on-site leadership for major capital projects within power generation facilities, including coal, gas, and renewable energy plants. The Construction Supervisor / Field Project Lead plays a critical role in both pre-construction planning and field execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This position supports Base Capital Energy Supply projects, including large-scale plant overhauls (up to $100M), and requires close coordination between engineering, project management, contractors, and plant operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Execution
- Lead daily on-site construction activities, setting priorities and monitoring safety, quality, and schedule adherence
- Provide direct oversight of contractors and vendors, ensuring alignment on sequencing, logistics, and site access
- Act as the primary on-site liaison between project teams and field personnel
- Monitor progress and proactively identify and resolve risks, delays, or conflicts
- Participate in project scope development, scheduling, and early planning activities
- Perform constructability reviews of design packages (30/60/90/IFC)
- Support estimating efforts including labor, equipment, logistics, and phasing
- Assist in vendor bid evaluations and selection
- Review and contribute to detailed project schedules, including critical path activities
- Determine crew sizes, durations, and resource requirements for construction tasks
- Coordinate materials, equipment, and workforce to ensure readiness and minimize downtime
- Develop contingency plans and adjust schedules as needed
- Plan and manage site layout, including storage, access routes, and temporary facilities
- Oversee material delivery, inventory tracking, and equipment utilization
- Ensure efficient use of resources and prevent delays, waste, or theft
- Support development and execution of quality management plans
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards
- Coordinate inspection and testing plans, including hold/witness points
- Track and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements
- Lead daily safety briefings and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure compliance with procedures such as LOTO
- Establish and maintain safety infrastructure (signage, PPE, emergency response readiness)
- Respond to and document incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Provide real-time updates to project stakeholders on progress, risks, and issues
- Maintain detailed daily logs and weekly progress reports
- Facilitate coordination meetings with contractors and project teams
- Resolve conflicts and maintain strong team collaboration on-site
Required
- 7+ years of experience in design, construction, operations, engineering, or maintenance within utility systems, power generation, or related industries
- Strong field experience with working knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and inspection practices
- Demonstrated expertise in applicable standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to plan construction activities, including crew sizing and duration estimates
- Experience with work packages, construction task planning, and asset/work management systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
- Track record of achieving operational and performance metrics and driving process adherence
- Associate’s or technical degree in a related field
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in a relevant craft
- Informal leadership or supervisory experience
- Understanding of utility finance and capital project structures
- Must be able to travel and work at various plant sites across the region
- Will be required to work rotating shifts and/or be on call
- Field-based role with significant time spent in active industrial/construction environments
- Expenses reimbursed on a project-by-project basis (no flat per diem)
- Supports multiple concurrent projects, including large-scale plant outages and overhauls
- Improves safety performance and ensures quality execution
- Reduces project delays through proactive field leadership and issue resolution
- Strengthens coordination between engineering, project management, and construction teams
- Drives consistent, predictable, and efficient project delivery outcomes
