Position Summary
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing a multi-week, rolling schedule to ensure work is completed on time and in alignment with customer expectations, safety standards, compliance requirements, and operational performance metrics. This role maintains a comprehensive view of all upcoming work, proactively identifying capacity constraints and recommending efficient, cost-effective solutions.
The Scheduler builds and manages a 0–12+ week backlog and delivers a prioritized, executable two-week schedule to the Work Coordination team for final adjustments and field execution. This position supports a designated region, function, or commodity area and plays a key role in optimizing workforce, materials, and equipment utilization.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a multi-week schedule based on workload demand, priorities, and resource availability
- Evaluate work types, job priorities, permitting requirements, and business guidelines to ensure optimal scheduling outcomes
- Identify scheduling conflicts, capacity gaps, and resource constraints; recommend and implement solutions
- Manage personnel, equipment, and material availability across a rolling schedule window
- Reallocate resources across regions or functions to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain schedule adherence
- Optimize contractor and internal workforce utilization within the scheduling horizon
- Analyze scheduling performance and forecast resource utilization for upcoming quarters
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and lead process enhancement initiatives
- Facilitate monthly performance and metrics review meetings with regional stakeholders
- Ensure all compliance-driven work is scheduled within required timelines
- Validate task sequencing and dependencies to ensure accurate execution planning
- Lead and participate in daily/weekly scheduling calls, providing updates and resolving scheduling issues
- Perform QA/QC reviews of schedules and reporting outputs
- Collaborate with supervisors, vendors, and cross-functional teams to align schedules and resolve conflicts
- Drive strong adherence to scheduling processes to enhance customer satisfaction
- Participate in project and scheduling calls to gather updates and adjust schedules accordingly
- Maintain and update schedules within Primavera P6
- Generate and review QA/QC reports
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries regarding schedules, timelines, and resource allocation
- Lead meetings with a problem-solving mindset to address scheduling challenges
- 10+ years of scheduling experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience using Primavera P6 for capital project scheduling
- Experience supporting projects up to $15M in value
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Business Objects or similar reporting tools
- Proven ability to lead meetings and drive problem-solving discussions
- Experience in utilities or construction environments
- Vendor management experience
- Professional scheduling certifications (e.g., PMI-SP or equivalent)
- Experience in utility capital project environments
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills
- Advanced scheduling and planning (Primavera P6)
- Critical Path Method (CPM) expertise
- Resource planning and optimization
- Forecasting and performance analysis
- Stakeholder communication and negotiation
