The Electricity Connections Compliance Team plays a key role in the ESO’s Connections department, responsible for ensuring that new and existing generators, wishing to connect to the Electricity Transmission system, meet the requirements of the grid code and associated connection agreements.
We are currently looking for an Electrical Compliance Manager and Electrical Compliance Engineer to join our team.
As an Electrical Compliance Manager, you will provide expert guidance to generating companies in all areas of Compliance and will lead the process and code changes related to compliance process, to ensure that grid code compliance requirements are met.
As an Electrical Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the ESO, and the Electricity Connections Compliance team specifically, are effectively represented (internally and externally) in the development of applicable industry codes and legislation. You will act as the focal point for the team in all related matters.
These roles are based from Warwick office. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

Becoming the Energy Future System Operator is a critical step to help deliver a reliable and clean energy transition for all. The ESO, including all of its existing roles, will be at the heart of the new Future System Operator, taking on additional roles with a whole energy system mindset to drive progress towards net zero while maintaining energy security and minimising costs for consumers.
The new organisation will be set up as a public corporation with operational independence from government – bringing parties together to support optimised decision making and action. As now, it will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements. It is anticipated that the new organisation will be up and running by or in 2024.

About you
What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who has:
• A working knowledge of the Grid Code, Requirements for Generators and demand etc
• An appreciation of the Compliance Process and broader ESO codes
• A working knowledge of existing and emerging generator and transmission system technologies and components, including their practical application to meet grid code obligations for frequency, voltage / reactive power support etc.
• An appreciation of the principles of power system planning and operation
• Power system analysis experience preferable
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £50000- £80000 p.a. – dependent on capability.

Key Accountabilities
Electrical Compliance Engineer:
• Liaison with our key customers - generator owners and manufacturers throughout the compliance process, providing expert guidance on all aspects of grid code compliance.
• Investigate gaps in processes, suggest/implement improvements, and train others in following new processes.
• Support the ongoing development and maintenance of compliance documents and internal procedures.
Additional for the Electrical Compliance Manager:
• To make authoritative recommendations on Compliance process like Megawatt dispatch (MDP) ,HND and codes such as STC, STCP 19-5 (OFTO - ESO), STCP 19-3 (ESO -TO), STCP 19 -7(ESO - CATO).
• Lead the development of codes and legislation on behalf of the Electricity Connection Compliance Team, representing the ESO in Compliance Process (CP) and European Compliance process (ECP) modifications.
• Liaison with key stakeholders such as Elexon on BSC requirements and Ofgem on derogation process and OFTO transfer process.
• Ensure relevant information is disseminated and embedded into the Team’s practises and procedures, including the provision of training and guidance to other staff members.
• Review technical appendixes within Bilateral Agreements, identify gaps and suggest changes
• Investigate and benchmarking ESO Compliance Processes across the world and implement the desired improvement.
