Instrumentation Operations Technician - Peterborough - £39,488 to £46,456 + Company Van
Are you a talented Instrumentation Technician?
As a skilled Instrument technician here at National Gas you will cover key area's to take on the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance of various safety, control and measurement, and fire and gas systems, as well as other operational duties onsite.
Once you have settled into your new role and have an understanding of how things operate here, you will also act as site controller to issue permission documents, formulate isolations and support with the construction and commissioning of new assets on the system. You will oversee and inspect work carried out by others, including support of capital project.
This role will help protect and maintain the high-pressure systems in our compressor stations and above ground installations. These stations are the engines that power long-distance gas pipelines across the National Transmission System.
Ideally you would have previously completed an apprenticeship (or other recognised training scheme) and hold a BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in an Instrumentation or Control Systems discipline.
You’ll have operated, controlled and undertaken work within Safe Systems of Work. Ideally you will have worked in heavy industry such as power generation or utilities and have experience in undertaking maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification work on rotating machinery such as industrial gas turbines or large machinery trains.
We work in hazardous areas, so knowledge of health and safety is key. It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of DSEAR and worked on ATEX Equipment having an in date CompEx certificate, if not, it is something we could consider putting you through.

Because this role works so closely with the UK Critical National Infrastructure it does requires National Security Vetting and for us in particular that means you cannot have a criminal record and in the last 5 years you cannot have been out of the UK for cumulatively 6 months or greater than.
