About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it’s essential that it’s continually evolving, advancing and improving.

In NGET we are passionate about both operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers. At the heart of achieving these outcomes is effective management of our network; the way we operate it, the way we plan it, the way we maintain it and the way we manage risk.

You’ll ensure that NGET has a compliant and robust framework for Electricity System Restoration (ESR) and that an annual compliance programme (including testing and exercises) is in place.

You will perform electrical compliance studies to ensure our restoration plans are optimally configured and can be implemented and tested safely. You’ll maintain, update, and ensure training is embedded for all relevant policies and procedures.

You’ll work with external parties (such as Ofgem and DESNZ), the Electricity System Operator (ESO), and teams across NGET (plus our critical suppliers) to put in place, and then assure, the capabilities required.

This role is based out of our offices in Warwick and can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you'll need

An excellent engineering-based knowledge of electrical power system operations and equipment and a good understanding of power system protection is essential. You’ll be able to perform network compliance studies using analysis tools, including RMS and EMT type studies.

Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, influence and challenge across all disciplines and levels within an organisation and a proven track record in developing effective relationships across an organisation, are all essential as are good planning, report writing and metric development skills.

A good understanding of Inverter Based and Grid Forming Technology would be an advantage.
