How do you develop data, processes and products for performance improvement?


We have 2 brand new roles and an excellent opportunity to make the role your own, as the Data and Performance Lead you’ll decide on how we advance our Data and Performance agenda across our expanding Asset Management teams and the Asset Operations business. This will give you exposure across the whole business at all levels which is great for your development and raising your profile, together with the flexibility and freedom to handle your own workload. This role comes with hybrid working, a mix of home, office and sites.


You’ll join the Asset Engineering Assurance division, supporting multiple Technical Asset teams who assure the quality of engineering work done for all the assets on the high voltage electricity network across England and Wales. Enabling a multi-billion pound capital plan to be technically assured, resilient against cyber threats, and enabling net zero. Today, that includes c.4,500 miles of overhead line, about 900 miles of underground cable and more than 300 substations.


We’re looking for you to provide leadership and expert advice concerning data in relation to these team’s performance. You’ll be part of a growing Asset Management team and play a pivotal role in creating new data structures, new processes and building new products for reporting and insights looking at forecasting (workloads), measuring and monitoring on team performance, and delivering key customer insight reports. You’ll create measures (KPI) and develop performance dashboards to shine a light on where the teams need to focus enabling better performance ensuring a high quality of work is being delivered to meet the required standards.


Essentially your role as Data and Performance Lead is supporting and enabling the Technical teams, engaging with the right stakeholders to ensure the performance reporting, systems, data and capabilities are fit for purpose. Identify and lead on improvement activities particularly leading on data, dashboard creation and performance improvement projects.

What are the requirements?

To thrive in this role we are looking for you to have a data background with proven experience of design, architecture and implementation of suitable data structures for performance reporting. A pro-active problem spotter and solution provider with the drive and tenacity to deliver data and performance improvements projects, creating an environment for continuous success. You’ll be good at interacting with all types of people and can adapt your style effortlessly, making an impact at all levels.


You must have the following:
Expert data management, manipulation, and transformation skills: Proficiency in handling large datasets, understanding data structures and data models, and implementing good data management practices.
Technical skills: Proven expertise in Python, Git, Oracle SQL, advanced Excel, and a solid understanding of relational databases.
Data visualization: Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent visualization tools.
Operational knowledge: Strong understanding of operational policies, procedures, and processes.
Stakeholder engagement: Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement and management.

Pay and Benefits

• A competitive salary of £52,972 to £65,000 pa + Benefits package + Training and Development.
