About The Role

As a Senior Project Supervisor, you will be required to live within a 1-hour commute of our Hawthorn Pit site in County Durham as you will be based in our NE region covering 3 new site projects within a 10-mile radius of Hawthorn Pit. You’ll need to be flexible for potential quarterly travel to our Torness site in Scotland to support a sister project and you’ll have the flexibility to work from home for up to 1 day per week dependent on the needs of the business.

The Senior Project Supervisor will enact the role of Site Supervisor under NEC and FIDIC contracts and Engineers Representative on behalf of the client ensuring that the site-based construction activities across National Grid are efficiently managed in accordance with National Grid policies and procedures. You’ll act as subject matter expert across Overhead Lines, Substations and/or Cabling whilst line managing up to 10 Project Supervisors and coaching wider team members as required.

What You'll Do

• Ensure the PC discharges their duties under the CDM regulations and holds Site Progress Meetings
• Assist the Principal Contractor with preparing and issuing the project H&S file
• Facilitate site safety walks and coordinate meetings ensuring control and record of access/egress
• Review/monitor deliverability of PC Site Delivery Programmes advising on risk, opportunity and delay
• Review suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements whilst supporting QA monitoring
• Establish and maintain risk based sensible monitoring assurance programmes for SHEQ activities
• Manage the implementation of issue resolution raised through SHEQ audit & inspection activities
• Review and implement improvement initiatives
• Issue site instructions and authenticate record sheets
• Assist the Commissioning Engineer with the review/confirmation of the PC Commissioning Programme
• Ensure and maintain an up-to-date drawing documentation system is established on site
• Deputise for the EPC PM as required
• Implement a client sensible monitoring system
• Encourage and promote a positive SHE culture with all contractors

About You

Essential:


• A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK
• NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS certification
• Significant experience gained from an engineering role within a construction environment
• Transmission experience including working at 275kV and 400kV
• Experience of working to Overhead Lines, Substations and/or Cabling construction standards
• Experience of Project Management including site, risk, time, cost, budget, quality and safety management
• Contract management experience including NEC ¾ or FIDIC
• Experience of CDM Regulations, Safety and Environmental legislation, practices and policies

Desirable:


• Engineering level 4 qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship
• Previous experience of line management
• Construction H&S, CDM, Risk Assessment & Method Statements, Environmental, Duty of Care and Waste Management or Contract Terms and Conditions qualifications
