About the Role
This role is responsible for performing various tasks in the management and oversight of tax compliance, tax technology initiatives impacting compliance and operations. The role will also support business transactions and assist the Manager and/or Director in timely providing advisory services, including latest developments in indirect tax law to National Grid’s US businesses. Assist the Manager and/or Director in audit defense activities and in the timely provision of information to support decisions by key stakeholders such as Business Units and Regulatory and other Governmental Bodies.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for the management of the data flows, communications, reviews, payments, and mailings with respect to outsourced indirect tax compliance and notice response.
- Interpret policies and procedures from state tax authorities and initiate necessary tax table updates with respect to the customer billings.
- Perform monthly closing activities, reconcile indirect tax general ledger accounts, provide account analysis to support financial and regulatory reporting, and book reconciliation journal entries.
- Management and maintenance of sales tax provision software (OneSource/SABRIX).
- Maintenance of SOX controls and SOP documents related to indirect taxes.
- Provide indirect tax transactional advice and awareness and education with respect to indirect tax issues.
- Support the internal and external financial, regulatory and tax authority audits.
- Assist the Indirect Tax team with special projects, business partnering, advisory services, technology enhancements as needed.
- Provides assistance with the maintenance and organization of the indirect tax files by entity while maintaining company guidelines, Policies and Procedures, and audit requirements.
- Provide cross-functional (Global Tax, Procurement, Accounts Payable, etc.) support as required.
What You'll Need
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in tax field with a concentration in indirect taxes, specifically sales and use tax.
- Solid technical understanding of sales & use taxes, gross receipts tax, fuel, excise, employment, real and personal property tax, and exempt organization taxes and their applicability to National Grid’s US legal entities to include knowledge of the applicable federal, state, and municipal tax laws/regulations.
- Experience in tax systems and the use of ERP systems. SAP and OneSource/Sabrix strongly preferred.
- General understanding of procurement, accounts payable, tax exemption, customer billings systems.
- Data analytics and problem-solving skills a must. Experience with Alteryx, Power Excel, Power BI preferred.
- Experience in supporting external and internal audits.
- Experience within regulated utility industry is a plus.
- Exhibit high personal standards of commitment and integrity.
- Ability to bring consistency and excellence in tax service delivery.
- Proven project management skills and sound judgment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related fields
- CPA or CMI is a plus

Annual Salary:
$105,000-$124,000
