National Grid is hiring a Analyst, Emergency Planning for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations
Job Purpose
The Analyst Position will focus on electric related strategic and tactical analysis to maximize efficiencies while delivering finished projects that help improve emergency preparedness and response. Although the chosen candidate will focus on electric Emergency Planning analytic projects, it is expected that the candidate will also collaborate across all Emergency Planning teams as well as other stakeholders across the entire business. This role will provide analytical support to ensure program and project commitments are developed, enhanced and/or performed as required. This individual will need to learn and understand key business drivers that impact business performance, including regulatory issues, operational aspects, emergency preparedness and response, compliance and risk, and customer experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Through applied research, gather and analyze data to support business decisions and opportunities for program enhancement.
- Gather and interpret data, identify trends, and perform statistical analyses.
- Utilize data analysis to develop reports and presentations for business users to drive
- program enhancements and assist leaders with information.
- In collaboration with other Emergency Planning teams, identify areas of opportunity, conduct
- research and develop analytical reporting to support continuous improvement especially as it
- pertains to emergency preparedness and response.
- Identify opportunities for improvement during real-world events, trainings and exercises and support the development or modification of processes and procedures to remediate through data gathering, analysis and reporting.
- Develop trend analyses to support enhancement of emergency response procedures.
- Support Emergency Planning activities during actual events at emergency operations centers or local on-scene locations.
- Ability to network internally and externally to develop successful, long-lasting, supportive relationships/partnerships with others.
- Coordinate with various departments to gather data and support analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 plus years of emergency planning/management and/or utility experience preferred. Or Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 plus years experience in an Analytic
- function or position.
- Strong problem-solving, quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong research capabilities, critical thinking and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data and ability to present findings across all levels of the organization.
- Understands the theory behind emergency management policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working.
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Incident Command System experience preferred.
- Utility, and Emergency Management experience a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed, and in response to emergencies.
- Valid US driver’s license required with driving record that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver Policy.
- This is a hybrid role based in MA with occasional travel throughout Massachusetts and New York.

Salary - $78,000 - $92,000
