About the Role
The Senior Accountant, NE Regulatory Accounting (Enterprise Business Services) is responsible for accounting functions by reviewing accounting discrepancies to produce accurate and credible financial information for the NE jurisdiction.
What You'll Do
• Responsible for processing accounting transactions and providing accurate and credible financial data for NE entities.
• Responsible for processing regulatory deferral entries as part of the month-end close process
• Reviews regulatory filings and orders to determine accounting impacts
• Supports the review of accounting to identify discrepancies and produce accurate and credible data.
• Supports month end accounting close process by reviewing accounting transactions for accuracy.
• Responsible for completing month end accounting review activities to ensure timely filing and account for any variances in SAP.
• Reviews accounts and calculates financial adjustments and ensure proper account reconciliation.
• Assembles and reviews supporting documentation to ensure compliance with audits.
• Compiles and reviews financial information to ensure accurate financial statements.
• Ensures maintenance of financial records for compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
• Responsible for supporting financial filings and reporting deadlines.
• Responsible for supporting the implementation of Rate Case order
What You'll Need
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years' of experience in Accounting roles with increasing responsibility.
• Knowledge of gas and/or electric accounting or related specialized accounting discipline.
• Ability to review accounting transactions for accuracy.
• Knowledge of general ledger platforms, SAP, Blackline and accounting systems experience.
• Knowledger of FERC Uniform System of Accounts preferred
• Experience working across department and geographic boundaries to lead risk mitigation, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the COSO Internal Control - Integrated Framework.
• Background preferred in Utility service business activities and projects.
• Experience reviewing and resolving data discrepancies.
• Able to assess accounting issues and recommend solutions.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written/oral communication skills, follow up and negotiation skills.
• Effective collaboration and partnership capabilities.
• Working as part of a team but able to work on own initiative when required.

Annual Salary
$102,000-$120,000
