We are looking for a dedicated professional to play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance across our construction projects.
In this position, you’ll act as the Employer’s ‘Supervisor’ under NEC contracts, working closely with the Principal Contractor to ensure proactive management of all site activities in line with CDM regulations. From overseeing safety walks and reviewing critical documentation to monitoring progress and quality assurance, you’ll be at the heart of delivering projects that support the UK’s journey to Net Zero.
This role is based in Waltham Abbey with the requirement to be a commutable distance to site.

- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality, safety and security of supply.
- Awareness of NEC Contracts
- Good understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
- Good knowledge of quality management processes in construction.
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Previous experience of project site management capability of working to deadlines and in a contracting environment.
- You'll be able to show a passion for the world National Grid are building and the UK road to Net Zero.
What you'll do
- Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging his duties under the CDM regulations, not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction-based activities
- Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks, holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site, ensuring that access/egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log/diary.
- Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, Construction Phase Plans, Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, Emergency Plans etc.
- Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities, promptly advising the EPC Project Manager of any programme risks.
- Ensure the PC is proactive in holding Site Progress Meetings and issues minutes of these meetings, a file of these to maintain on site. Minutes and any relevant documentation as required by the project and EPC PM including site daily to be uploaded on to Livelink.
- Ensure the Principal Contractor has robust Quality Management processes in place to support delivery.
- Defect Management and ensuring the timely close out of non-conformances and the sharing of lessons learned to avoid recurrences.
- Attending ITP hold/witness point inspections and supporting Quality Assurance monitoring for the project.
- Be familiar with industry construction standards and will be expected to inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship.
- Undertake the role for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation.
- Enacting the role of Employers ‘Supervisor’ under NEC contracts.
- Issue site instructions and authenticate any record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £47,000 - £53,000 dependent on capability.
