Job Purpose
As a Portfolio Analyst, you’ll provide the insights that shape how National Grid invests in its electricity transmission network. You’ll support portfolio governance and reporting by analysing data, tracking performance, and enabling informed decision-making across multi-billion-pound capital programmes.
In this role, you’ll help ensure investment plans deliver maximum value and meet regulatory commitments. Your analysis will influence national and regional decisions on substation upgrades, overhead line reinforcements, and cable installations, projects that strengthen the network and enable the UK’s energy transition.
What You'll Do
- Analyse portfolio data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Produce reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
- Support governance processes and regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with engineers, finance teams, and project managers.
- Maintain accurate portfolio data and produce clear performance reports and dashboards.
- Analyse deliverability, costs, and risks to support investment decisions and change control.
- Prepare inputs for regulatory submissions and track KPIs against milestones.
- Collaborate with PMOs, delivery teams, and stakeholders to share updates and gather insights.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support capability development within the portfolio function.
About You
As a Portfolio Analyst, you’ll combine strong analytical capability with excellent communication skills to deliver clear, actionable insights. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset, enabling you to interpret complex data and identify trends that support strategic decision-making. Your ability to engage stakeholders effectively and present findings in a clear, concise manner will be key to influencing outcomes. Technically, you’ll bring proficiency in portfolio management principles and governance processes, alongside experience with data analysis tools and financial modelling techniques. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements will ensure your work aligns with business priorities and compliance standards.
What You'll Get
Competitive salary: £54,000 - £68,000
