National Grid is hiring a Design and Assurance Manager to assist with projects relating to the lifetime strategy of the IFA Connector.
As a Design and Assurance Manager In this role you will play a key part of the Interconnector Construction Directorate where you will be responsible the detailed design and development of all Capex projects
You will be critical to setting up all construction activities for success by ensuring development activities are delivered to cost and to programme while making sure safety by design is considered at all stages.
The role is hybrid so you can enjoy working from home and our office based in Warwick.
What you'll do
- Responsible for delivery of the early project lifecycle up to handover to construction including all pre-construction project development activities.
- Drive a safety culture to achieve and uphold the highest levels of Health & Safety, actively embedding Safety by Design into our engineering solution
- Responsible for the detailed design for all projects and managing the delivery of consistent design contract management.
- Setup the Team to ensure they are ready for the delivery stage of projects, aligning resources, functions and system availability.
- Drive lessons learnt and seek opportunities to enhance our processes, ensuring lessons are learned and embedded in future projects
- Engage with the supply chain to achieve deliverables, challenging the status quo and seeking opportunities to improve resilience
- Provide appropriate level of technical and commercial challenge ensuring that projects are developed in line with Business requirements
- Engage with various stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful delivery
- Responsible for cost, time and scope of all projects in the early project lifecycle
What you'll need
- Experience of managing work and demonstration of successfully co-ordinating activities across a portfolio of projects.
- Accomplished knowledge and application of CDM, Safety and Environmental Regulations
- Knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System.
- Finance and cost control management experience on complex, high value projects.
- Experience in contracting strategies and procurement seeing contracts through the end-to-end project life cycle.
- Project Management Skills and the ability to develop, plan and integrate projects to optimise cost, dependencies, risk management and project benefits.
- Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
- Expert at engaging stakeholders and working collaboratively to remove blockers
- Experienced at developing teams and delivering high quality results
- Proven experience in Developing Construction Projects in a HV Environment
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £70,000 - £85,000 per annum– dependent on capability.
