About the role

Shape the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure.


As a Lead EPC Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of the end‑to‑end development, sanctioning and delivery of a major project—driving progress against time, cost and technical requirements in line with the Network Development Process. This is a high‑impact role where your leadership will directly influence successful outcomes across a complex EPC environment.


Based from our Birmingham project office several days each week, you’ll work closely with a multi‑disciplinary project team, contractors and key stakeholders to manage EPC contracts, ensure strong commercial and performance management, and proactively identify and mitigate risk throughout the project lifecycle. Your regular on‑site presence in Birmingham will be critical in enabling collaboration, pace and effective decision‑making.


You’ll also lead the way in ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are embedded at every stage, while delivering against regulatory obligations and meeting stakeholder and customer commitments. About you

  • Good Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality, safety and security of supply
  • Knowledge of business processes and governance.
  • Working knowledge and application of CDM
  • Proficient understanding and experience of Safety and Environmental legislation, practices and policies.
  • Proficient in Contract Management (NEC)

  • You’ll need a driving licence that allows you to drive in the UK, and there will be some overnight travel required too

What you'll do

Project management

  • Responsible for end-to-end delivery, ensuring the project is managed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standard.
  • Develop, support, sanction, and deliver the optimal solution and best value to the consumer.
  • Identify early signs of project deviation and implementation timely corrective actions to maintain delivery against cost, programme, and quality objectives.
  • Responsible for the management of the integrated programme: maintaining control of milestones, dependencies, and critical path to deliver agreed outcomes and protect key delivery commitments.
  • Responsible for day-to-day risk management: identify, assess, mitigate, and actively manage project risk throughout the lifecycle.
  • Lead, manage and challenge change and decisions; ensuring scope, cost, and programme impacts are assessed, controlled, and approved through robust governance.

    Finance
  • Lead financial management, ensuring accurate cost forecasting, budget control, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilising value engineering to reduce costs whilst remaining within scope.


Safety

    Displaying visible safety leadership and setting the tone of project safety. For example, by conducting site visits and providing timely feedback on improvements.
  • Ensuring visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project, such as safety charters and notifications of incidents and lessons learnt. You will also share good practices and reinforce positive behaviours.

Looking after the projects’ safety, health, environment, security and quality obligations, adhering to all relevant internal and external policies and regulations.

Leadership

  • Leading in a way that ensures we deliver what we promised, and that everyone in your team is motivated to deliver results in the right way.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment with the supply chain, including project partners; suppliers of services and plant; customers; landowners; and local authorities, residents and businesses.

    Training and development
  • We take your development seriously and will provide all the training you need to succeed. If you don’t already have qualifications such as NEBOSH and APM certification, we will pay for you to take them. We will also provide internal training in areas including finance, leadership, management and negotiation. You will have access to LinkedIn Learning’s 16,000+ expert led courses too.
  • We fully support mentorship and encourage a 70:20:10 approach to development: 70% on the job training, 20% mentoring and 10% formal training.

What you'll get

A competitive salary up to £68,000 dependent on capability. This role also attracts a market supplement of £4,500 whcih is pro rate'd into your salary each month.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
