About the role

Grain LNG is Europe’s largest liquefied natural gas importation terminal by storage capacity, located on the Isle of Grain in Kent. The terminal plays a critical role in supporting the UK’s energy security by providing substantial regasification, storage, and send out capability which is sufficient to supply 25-30% of Great Britain’s gas demand. As an expanding critical energy asset positioned for the future energy transition, Grain LNG continues to evolve—enhancing operational resilience, embracing new technologies, and shaping its role as a key enabler of the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Treasury to lead the management of the Group’s financial risks including, but not limited to, liquidity, interest rate, funding, operational and facility compliance risks in accordance with the Board approved Treasury Policy.

The role is a hybrid role based on site at the Isle of Grain site at least 2-3 days and also from home, please note, you must have a full UK driving licence and be able to drive to site.

What you'll do

  • Monitor, daily, the Group’s bank account positions to ensure that balances and availability are as expected, immediately identify unexpected or unauthorised movements and initiate appropriate actions
  • Manage the Group’s bank payment and electronic banking systems to ensure that controls and procedures are robust and avoid any unauthorised access or payments and provide technical support to other departments using payment systems e.g. BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments etc for AP and Payroll
  • Ensure all liquid funds, other than for immediate use, are deposited in accordance with the Group Treasury Policy including only using permitted instruments and within credit risk limits
  • Prepare, or ensure the preparation and review of, the Group’s four-week–by-day and thirteen-week-by-week cashflow forecasts to ensure the Group has sufficient liquidity, both cash and available facilities to, to meet its liabilities as they fall due
  • Prepare, or ensure the preparation and review of, annual (required) and further dated cashflow forecasts as necessary to ensure the Group has sufficient funding to meet its medium and longer term strategic plans, including investment and capital expenditure
  • Ensure at all times compliance with the Group’s debt facilities including reporting, financial covenants, undertakings (both positive and negative) and repeating representations and when they’re made
  • Is fully familiar with all aspects of the debt documentation including what is permitted and not permitted and events of default and is able to advise the CFO and the Board accordingly
  • Ensure full compliance at all times with the Group Treasury Policy and regularly reviews such policy (including a full annual review) to ensure that it remains appropriate to the Group’s financial risks and, where necessary, recommends changes for review by the CFO and approval by the Board
  • Management of all hedging activities including but not limited to ISDA documentation, interest accruals, fx mark to markets and so forth for management and reporting purposes
  • Identify, or have in place procedures to identify, material foreign exchange risks and policies to manage those risks as well as a full knowledge and understanding of the instruments to be used, or which could be used, to manage such risks
  • Manage and fully understand trade finance instruments including but not limited to letters of credit as well as non-bank instruments such as sureties
  • Have a good understanding of trade credit insurance and its application to financing as well as a broader understanding of insurance and the insurance market
  • Prepare and make effective and fully correct Lender and Board presentations, including those required under credit facilities
  • Effectively and professionally manage Lender, advisor and other relationships
  • Work with Commercial Department to understand and put in place feeds from credit reference and rating agencies to support commercial contracts and credit risk of deposits and financial instruments
  • Establish systems and processes for the efficient management of treasury including but not limited to implementing a TMS and managing its interface with the Group’s ERP system
  • Expert on all treasury matters
  • Good understanding of tax not just on treasury matters and instruments but in general and in particular UK Corporation Tax, capital allowances and interest deductability, and indirect taxes affecting the business
  • Good understanding of treasury accounting including but not limited to specific accounting standards such as IFRS 9 and IFRS 16

What you'll need

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate treasury ensuring that they are the Group’s expert on all treasury and related matters
  • Experience of PE reporting environment and/or US Corporate reporting requirements preferred
  • Experience of working in an SME scaled business and large company, long term contract environments
  • Experience of joint venture with significant long-term debt and a TopCo. MidCo and BidCo structure preferred
  • Sound and up to date knowledge, including risks, of all financial instruments which are or may be used in treasury
  • Acts proactively rather than reactively, ensuring good communications at all levels to bring colleagues on board and ensure they understand the relevance of treasury and financial risk
  • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external parties
  • Good presentation skill, both in preparing and presenting
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time
  • Willingness to get hands on to resolve issues
  • Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity
  • Self-starting with good organisational skills
  • Ability to drive solutions to complex operational and financial issues
  • Strong management skills should a treasury team be identified as being necessary

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £95,000-£120,000 per annum – dependent on capability.
